Last night, while watching Hollywood Week on American Idol, I whipped up a batch of my best White Bean Stew. This morning, as I gather my ‘stuff’ (camera, gift for mom, healthy snacks) to head off into the sunrise to visit my 94 year-young mother, I am reminded of this video that I shot 2 short years ago. Not much has changed. My mother still sits in her apartment, doing her solo act. She did finally stop driving herself to and fro the supermarket this past year. She said it was like having a limb chopped off, but she felt it necessary. Her reflexes aren’t exactly what they used to be, and she certainly didn’t want to put anyone else in danger. Brava that she came to this conclusion on her own!
