(This is a part of the “Astrology Of Love And Compatibility” series)

AKA: The Scorpion, and sometimes The Eagle… because Scorpio can either attack from out of the sky without warning or crawl into your sleeping bag and get you that way.

Ruling Planet: Pluto, because Scorpio’s original ruling planet Mars just wasn’t intimidating enough.

Identifying Features: Focused, dedicated, and generally hard to stomp out unless you’ve got really sturdy boots on.

How Many Scorpios Does It Take To Change A Lightbulb? I’m sorry –if I told you that I’d have to kill you.

Reputation: Scorpios are credited with a powerful James Bond/Jezebel kind of sexiness, and it’s often true. That intensity can be converted to deadly rage or fierce dedication at the drop of a hat. So, please…make sure you don’t drop Scorpio’s hat, even accidentally.

The Truth: Scorpios aren’t necessarily sexier or deadlier than anyone else. It’s just that when they’ve decided to be sexy or deadly, they have a laser-focus on the matter.

How To Get A Scorpio’s Attention:  Sex it up a little. Even if your intentions aren’t romantic, subtly dangle the potential for something deep and/or naughty in front of them, then withdraw it before they get too far with it. They’ll follow along, if for no other reason than Scorpio loves uncovering things.

What’s To Love? If a Scorpio loves you, likes you, or will even give you the time of day, there’s very little guesswork involved. They are straightforward and uncompromising, and even if they won’t always say it (they can keep a secret), they’ll certainly act like it.

What’s Not To Love? All human beings have the potential for great love, great hate, great apathy, and so on. It’s just that dealing with someone whose mood du jour is always turned up to 11 can be a bit too much to cope with.

What Scorpio needs to let those who love them know: Half measures will get you nowhere in life. If you can learn how to play along with the moods — be loving when it is required, pay attention when it’s needed, and duck and cover during a blast — then Scorpio will be your Friend To The End.

What you need to know if you love a Scorpio: Making any relationship work is like a sport: there are rules, you need to understand your opponent, and when you’re done everyone should still be friends. With a Scorpio, they key is to treat it a bit like boxing: you’ll never win if all you know how to do is throw a punch. Bobbing, weaving, rolling with the punches, and keeping balanced are all important skills too.

COMPATIBILITY:
Fire Signs: (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) At first, these combined energies can be a lot of fun… and kind of explosive. But Fire Signs usually require a much lighter touch than Scorpio prefers to apply.

Earth Signs: (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) These Signs can give Scorpio a reliable base to operate from, and Scorpio appreciates that sort of thing. Both are intense — but that intensity often gets applied in two different directions.

Air Signs: (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) Air Signs think a lot, and Scorpio will end up trying to decode that — and Scorpios love uncovering a mystery. But Scorpio may end up wondering if there’s anything solid under the puzzles.

Water Signs: (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) This can make for a relationship built on emotional intensity… but intense things that don’t work together well can simply end up exploding.
