Slow Down, It’s Taurus Time!

posted by Karen A. Kay

Sun in Taurus at Tarot.comThe Sun is moving into Taurus tomorrow, and I’m INTO it!

This highly indulgent transit lasts from April 19 to May 20, during which time we’re all inspired to slow down the pace of life, let our senses come alive and appreciate the simple (and best) things in life.

What this really means is that it’s perfectly OK to sleep in, have a lot of sex, eat as many pancakes as you want and splurge on that silk dress you’ve been eyeing at Nordstrom, even if it might hurt your budget a bit.

It all sounds terribly irresponsible, doesn’t it? But that’s not what’s happening here. What’s happening here is AWESOME.

The Sun in Taurus time is meant to help us appreciate life instead of charging right through it without paying attention to beauty and nature and how great things can look and feel and taste and smell and sound.

As a fast-paced Gemini who tends to run about scattering my energies every which way, I especially appreciate the Sun’s invitation to take it down a notch and let life in.

Of course, if I was as good at managing money as your average Taurus is, I would have started budgeting for the Sun in Taurus last year. That way I could afford all the fine things that would feel so good right now.

But that’s OK, having sex and spending time in nature are free … so I’m gonna love it all up, Taurus style, while still keeping the overhead low. But next year, watch out, it’ll be champagne and caviar all the way!

Hey Venus! Show Me the Money!

posted by Karen A. Kay

Money stresses me out. They say it’s the root of all evil, right? And while I don’t necessarily think of it as “evil,” per se, I certainly don’t have enough of it myself. And I’m well aware of how much stress and suffering is felt by those who are forced to go without due to a lack of funds.

What’s my point? Well, Venus just moved into Taurus, and while many know Venus as the love planet, it’s also the money planet. And Taurus is a sign that sure knows how to handle money because their physical comfort and well-being relies on it.

Basically, what this means is that while Venus is in Taurus our relationship with money will come into focus, and it can be even more complicated than romance.

Money gets a bad rap much of the time, but the fact is … cash is comforting. Just like Venus in Taurus is comforting.

Venus in Taurus is about enjoying both the finer things in life — which often cost money — but it’s also about reconnecting with simple pleasures, which are often free.

Finding balance between these two points and recognizing the value of money without becoming greedy is essential to experiencing the true joy of Venus in Taurus — that is things like touching and being touched, the taste of chocolate on the tongue or a big bunch of fragrant flowers.

I cut lilacs from my mom’s back yard yesterday, and it didn’t cost a cent. But the scent was priceless.

Calm Yourself! It’s Taurus Time!

posted by Karen A. Kay

Weekly Astrology for April 15, 2013The week got off to a terrible start yesterday, with tragic news of the Boston Marathon bombings clouding over what was supposed to have been a lovely day.

Venus moved into Taurus yesterday (Monday, April 15), but instead of being able to enjoy this pure-pleasure transit, we were all caught up in the pressure of Tax Day and the horrific news reports coming out of Boston, where more than 23,000 of our family and friends were taking part in the run.

I’m still heartbroken over yesterday’s news, and thankful that the warrior planet Mars will finally move out of aggressive Aries this week. I can’t help but think that such acts of war are more likely with both Mars and Mercury in fiery Aries, as they were yesterday. In fact five planets were in Aries yesterday, along with an emotionally scattered Gemini Moon.

That said, this week we see Venus, the Sun and Mars all move into comfortable Taurus, setting us up for a more peaceful period where life’s simple pleasures come back into focus.

It’s no longer about charging ahead, tramping over others, proving your point or winning as it has been for the past few weeks.

It’s Taurus time now, and I’m pretty sure we can all use the rest.

Peace.

Is Doing Taxes Sexy? Today It Is!

posted by Karen A. Kay

Venus in Taurus at Tarot.comSo it’s Tax Day in the U.S. But more importantly, Venus — the planet that rules love and money — is moving into Taurus, the sign that is best at handling love and money. What a sweet cosmic coincidence!

When Venus moves into Taurus this Monday, April 15, many of us (myself included) will be scrambling to finish our taxes at the last-minute, which is often when we make the most mistakes.

But the good news is that Taurus is very earthy and business-minded, with a savvy and practical approach to money matters. Taurus is known for managing money well because having it is such a vital part of their physical well-being.

After all, Taurus is the most sensual sign — the sign that loves the finest things in life, and those things are usually the most expensive things in life. So in order to afford them, well, Taurus has evolved into the most financially astute zodiac sign.

Having Venus in Taurus on Tax Day will surely help the paperwork process go smoother, and it may even help you figure out how to work out a bigger tax refund. Score!

But that’s not all — don’t forget, I also said Venus rules love — and it’s a super-sexy sign. So if you hurry up and finish your taxes already, there’s some pure pleasure to be had once you file.

Venus will be in Taurus through May 9, so be sure to indulge your senses with fine things over the next three weeks. Think gourmet dinners and champagne and cashmere and chocolates and expensive perfume.

You can afford all this with the big refund you’ll get with help from Venus in Taurus, right?!
