    Simone holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Belize.

Simone Biles became somewhat of a darling of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio as a member of the 2016 USA Olympic team dubbed the "Final Five" who won Gold. Simone and her 3 siblings were born to their troubled mother, a drug and alcohol addict, and eventually all 4 siblings were taken in and adopted by extended family members. Simone, raised by her paternal grandfather and his wife whom she eventually called "Mom" and "Dad", was homeschooled and verbally committed to UCLA after completing secondary education, deferring enrollment until after Rio. Since then, she has decided to forfeit NCAA eligibility and turn professional.
