    Microwave Almond Milk Drink

    Almond milk is a very popular drink in the Muslim world in the month of Ramadan. In Muslim folklore, almonds enhance one's intelligence.

    What you'll need:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground almonds
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • a microwave

    What to do:
    1. Pour milk, almonds, and sugar into cup.
    2. Boil all together on low heat until the milk thickens.
    3. Stir well
    4. Wait until lukewarm to gulp it down.(Have your parents help you)
    USA Eid Stamp Greeting Card

    At the end of Ramadan, Muslims will celebrate their most festive holiday, Eid. The gold Arabic calligraphy on the USA Eid Stamp took Muhamed Zakariya, a well-known American calligrapher, approximately 18 months to create. Calligraphy is an important Muslim art form.

    What you'll need:
    1 plain white 8/12 x 11 sheet of paper
    1 34 cent USA Eid Greetings Stamp
    your favorite coloring pens, pencils, or markers
    a pair of scissors
    a good imagination

    What to do:
    1. First, cut your paper in half. Your two halves can make two cards, so don't waste the other half.
    2. The halves should each be folded in half so as to form a card.
    3. On the front, try to copy the design of the postage stamp, including the beautiful Arabic calligraphy.
    4. Write a personal message inside.
    5. Send the card to someone special.(If you mail it, don't forget to use the new Eid stamp.)

    Water Fast

    As you know, all Muslims are required to fast for the entire month of Ramadan to experience the hunger of people in need of food. When you try this "water fast" you will get a taste of what it's like to fast.

    What you'll need:

  • water (any amount)
  • yourself

    What to do:
    1. First of all, when you wake up in the morning eat a hearty breakfast.
    2. Then refrain yourself for the whole day from all types of food and drink except for water until sunset.
    3. Break your fast with a California Date Shake (see below)
    4. Be sure to check with your parents or guardian to see if it's all right to fast.
  • California Date Shake

    Muslims all over the world break their fast with dates. The significance of dates in Islam date back to the time of the Prophet (peave be upon him). The Prophet started and ended his fast with dates. Dates are still popular fruits in palm-growing regions arund the world, including the Middle East and southern California. (Just a reminder: these dates don't go to the movies with you.)

    What you'll need:
  • 5 pitless California dates
  • 2 glasses of milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Haagen Dazs "World's Best Vanilla" ice cream a blender

    What to do:
    1. Cut dates into small pieces.
    2. Place all ingredients in your blender for 30 seconds
    3. Pour into separate glasses and don't forget to share with your brethren.
  • Wrap a Turban

    The turban is one of the articles of clothing which the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to wear. That is the reason some people today still wear it.

    What you'll need:

  • One square piece of cloth (about 3 feet x 3 feet) - preferably white, black, or green
  • A Kufi (A brimless skullcap or a large yarmulke. If you don't have one, that's okay.)

    What to do:
    1. Take your piece of cloth and fold it diagonally into a triangle.
    2. Now, lay your triangle on the floor with the point facing you.
    3. Take the tip and fold it in about 2-3 inches.
    4. Keep on folding it until it's one long strip of cloth.
    5. Put your skullcap on your head.
    6. Take the strip and hold it so there is about 10 inches behind your head hanging down.
    7. Then, wrap it around your head until there is no more cloth to wrap.
    8. With the end of it, tuck it into the side of your turban.And then you have a turban.
