Making Big Decisions Without Talking About Them First

For those who have been single for quite some time before entering a marriage, it’s probably easy to recall the old days of making decisions without having to check in with anyone. But then you fell head over heels in love and made a commitment to another person and a commitment to the marriage. You probably wouldn’t argue with the fact that certain responsibilities come with being part of an intimate committed relationship. One such responsibility includes consulting with your partner whenever you’re faced with an important decision. The thinking here is that big decisions impact both of you, so it only makes sense to talk about your partner’s feelings regarding any potentially important decision (finances, children, big purchases, etc.). When a wife doesn’t consult her husband about big decisions she’s making, it can make him feel inadequate and that his judgment isn’t trusted. It can also make him feel like you don’t take his opinions seriously.

Resisting or Not Initiating Casual Affection

Your husband loves you and contrary to how men are often portrayed on the big screen, they want to show and be shown attraction in ways other than just sex. Kisses on the forehead, holding your hand, rubbing your back, or giving you a hug are some examples of these smaller acts of affection. But when you appear uninterested in or never initiate those more casual acts of intimacy, it can make your husband feel unattractive and worthless, especially if you showed him these forms of affection before. Yes, most men like to lead out in a relationship, but this doesn’t mean they want to dominate it. It destroys their confidence when they’re the one initiating every romantic gesture, while their partner puts in little or no effort.

Flirting with Other Men

Fidelity in marriage is much more than only being intimate with your spouse. It also includes not flirting with others or doing anything that would show interest in a man other than your husband. This is especially important when it comes to texting and social media. You might see being playful or friendly with other men as an innocent gesture, or not even realize you’re doing it. However, your husband will notice it and it can make him feel absolutely worthless. In the same way, just because your wife is talking to other guys and may even feel attracted to some of them, it doesn’t mean she views them as better than her husband or thinks that she has to leave you and hook up with those guys instead. As long as a husband is deepening his wife’s feelings of love, respect and attraction, there is no reason for them to want to leave you.

Being Distracted During Conversation

Being distracted during conversation with your husband is not only a turn off, but also a big slap in the face. When you do things like look at your phone during a conversation or can’t recreate what he said because you were paying attention to the TV and not him, it sends the nonverbal message to him that you don’t care enough about what he is saying to give him your full attention and it will bother him, a lot. We all are occasionally distracted, but if it’s happening all the time, he will notice it. This is a problem that is becoming more and more common in our technology-driven society. No text, video, game or digital distraction is worth making the most important person in your life feel like they are worthless.

Speaking More Favorably of Other Men
