INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 tablespoons fat
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups canned tomatoes
  • 2 cups canned corn
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 5 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Pie crust, biscuits or slices of buttered bread
TO PREPARE:

     Melt fat and saute garlic and onion; stir in ground meat and brown.  Add tomatoes and corn.  Melt butter; stir in flour.  Add these ingredients to the meat mixture; stir and cook until boiling.  Season with sugar, chili powder, salt and paprika.  Place in a greased, oven-proof dish.  Top with pie crust, biscuits or slices of buttered bread.  Place in a hot oven (425 degrees) until the top is done, about 20 minutes.
