Knowing that you are right where you are supposed to be isn’t the easiest task. In fact, it’s a process. Too many of us are waiting for something big to change in our lives so that we can finally say we’re in the right place in life. You might think if my circumstances suddenly changed, if my life was like the people around me or if I had the answers to life, I’d have a life truly worth living. However, being where you’re supposed to be has nothing to do with how others are living or what people are doing for you. Living the life you’re supposed to live starts from within. The quickest way to living a life you love is through learning to love the life you live. In order to determine if you’re staying on course, it begins with you. Here are seven signs you are right where you’re supposed to be.

When Your Life is Balanced

People who are right where they are supposed to be live balanced lives. Living a balanced life will help you feel calm and grounded. To be balanced means that you have a handle on the various elements of your life and don’t feel that your heart or mind is being pulled too hard in any direction. People who are balanced, more often than not feel calm, grounded, clear-headed and motivated. It’s important that you find internal and external balance. Some people focus more on external things, like work, relationships and actives and pay very little attention to what is going on inside their heart and mind and vice versa. Make sure that both of these areas are balanced. If either side is taken to an extreme, something that is intended to be positive can end up being detrimental.

When You Focus on Your Plan

Many of us get caught up in trying to figure out what our lives are supposed to look like, but we don’t pay attention to the signals that are telling us where we’re supposed to be. Even if you don’t have a formal plan, you have a life plan in your head. We all do. We have an imagined future in our heads. Planning isn’t always a bad thing. Without plans, little of enduring value gets accomplished. But the reality is, there are many times our dreams for our lives are not in line with our current circumstances. In fact, there are many times when our plans for ourselves get messed up. Sometimes the reason is letting our ego get in the way. We feel like we must have everything figured out before we can make a move. When we do this, we are not moving according to our life plan. A big sign that we are right where we’re supposed to be is when we’re comfortable with the road we’re traveling on. We focus on the plan we’ve created and are comfortable with where it’s leading us.

When You Focus on Hope Over Fear

Another sign that you’re right where you’re supposed to be is when fear is not a focus in our lives. Too often, we allow fear to paralyze us but a person who is right where they’re supposed to be is comfortable with their life. If you’re struggling with fear, it’s important that you pinpoint the fear that’s plaguing you. This could be your weight, body image, finances, love life, career, dreams or yourself. Hold it up to the light out your awareness. It’s time to get super real. Ask yourself honestly: Is this thought really true? Can I know for sure? Is there another way of looking at this? What would the highest version of me say about this? Remember, the word thought is not synonymous with the word truth. In other words, your thoughts are not necessarily true or important and you don’t have to take them so seriously. Think of them like passing cloud in the sky – they come and they go. Your true self is an observer who watches your fear-based thoughts as they pass by.

When You Practice Gratitude

A person who practices gratitude is surely where they’re supposed to be because they recognize how fortunate and blessed they are to be where they are. The benefits of practicing gratitude are endless. People who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they’re thankful for experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, and express more compassion and kindness than those who don’t. If you want to love the life you have, ask yourself daily what things you are grateful for. Remember, gratitude doesn’t have to be reserved only for momentous occasions. Yes, you might express gratitude after receiving a promotion at work, but you can also show your thankfulness for something as simple as making it to work this morning.

When You Accomplish Your Goals

One of the biggest signs you are where you’re supposed to be is when you’ve accomplished the goals you’ve set for yourself. What goals and desires do you have that you’re not living out? If you want to live a life you love, you must accomplish the goals you’ve set for yourself. It’s also important to have a teachable spirit. You couldn’t imagine the levels of success you can achieve when you possess this. Once you’ve done the work to identify your goals and the specific steps you can take to achieve them, there are a variety of things you can do to increase the chances you have to achieve these goals. One of these things is keeping your goals on hand. Think of your goals often and keep them in mind when making decisions in your life.

When You Let Go of Distractions

Your mind can be your worst enemy when it comes to getting where you’re supposed to be. A person who is where they’re supposed to be will let go of the mental distractions in their life. If you can make it harder for your mind to focus on things that could cause fear, you’ll be less able to trigger symptoms that cause the feelings of anxiety. Distract yourself all day with activities you enjoy, phone calls, positive music, comedy on television and other things that don’t cause anxiety but still distract your mind. One really effective activity is walking. Walking around helps with blood glow and provides you with visual and mental stimulation. It also reduces some of the adrenaline in your bloodstream which is important for keeping your anxiety away. Another effective activity is writing out your thoughts. Your mind has a tendency to focus on thoughts when you have them because it’s trying to get you to pay attention to them. But the mind also relaxes when it knows you’ve already recorded those thoughts.

When You Become Your Own Authority

Finally, a great sign that you are where you’re supposed to be is when you become your own authority. Trying to live the life you love may not be an easy task. Pursuing your dreams can prove to be more difficult than you had ever imagined. The good thing is you have to the authority over your life. This doesn’t mean you will automatically know how much time it will take you to get where you want to go. You may not have realized how long you would have to keeping paying the price of your own happiness as a result of the many demands placed upon your life. But what determines the successful from the mediocre is the ability to take authority over their tiresome times, deeply believing that the payoff of their hard work will make the times of great sacrifice well worth it.
