We will do many wonderful things in Heaven that will bring us happiness, joy, and peace.

There is a huge misnomer out in the world that Heaven only consists of people playing harps and sitting on clouds. With this type of imagery, it is not surprising that many people think of Heaven as being boring. If this is what you have thought for most of your life, rest in the assurance that this is not what Heaven will be like. Heaven will be a place of righteousness, peace, and love.

The Apostle Paul tells us this truth, “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17). There will be many wonderful things to do in Heaven and we will never be bored, sad, or grieved again. Praise the Lord that we have such a great inheritance waiting for us in Heaven!

1. Worshipping & Praising the Lord

“Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!’” (Revelation 5:13).

When we are in Heaven, we will be worshipping and praising the Lord. Finally, after all of the decades we spent on this earth, we will be able to worship and praise the Lord in Heaven. This will be the greatest joy and pleasure for us as believers. For all eternity, we will be able to lift our voices in praise to our Savior and our King.

Worshiping and praising the Lord doesn't stop with singing and lifting our hands in praise. You can worship and praise God by doing the right thing, obeying His teachings, and living out the truth of the Bible in your life. Therefore, know that your worship and praise of the Lord will be in every aspect of your life while we are in Heaven. It will bring joy, peace, and an indescribable happiness to your soul.

2. Serving the Lord

“No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him” (Revelation 22:3).

Sadly, many people believe that Heaven is where we get everything we want. If a person believes this, they probably don't truly know the Lord. In Heaven, you will be serving the Lord with a servant's heart. Serving Jesus will be the greatest joy as you will be able to do what you were created to do.

Serving Jesus is not a pain or a problem. Rather, it is a great privilege. There will be many ways you can serve the Lord while you are in Heaven as you may paint pictures for Him, tend to His garden, or lead the other believers in worship. Serving the Lord is a beautiful gift and something that will bring eternal joy into your heart.

3. Spending Time With God

“I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far” (Philippians 1:23).

Heaven is the Lord’s Kingdom, therefore, when you are in Heaven, you will be able to spend time with Him. This won't be a one-sided prayer like you have on this earth. Instead, you will talk to the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit one-on-one and get to spend time with them. You will learn more than you ever did on this earth about God and you will live in perfect harmony with Him. What better blessing is there than to know that you will spend eternity with the Creator of your soul.

4. Working & Being Productive

“They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands” (Isaiah 65:21-22).

You will still work and be productive in Heaven, but it won't be like work here on this earth. It won't be redundant, stressful, or anxiety provoking. Instead, work will be filled with joy. Whether you will be building a house, tending to a garden, or decorating God’s Kingdom, it will bring your heart joy and fulfillment. Work will be a pleasure and a joy rather than something that keeps us up at night.

5. Fellowship With Other Believers

“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’ (Revelation 7:9-10).

Once God shows you around Heaven, you will see that there are other believers present. With your fellow believers, you will worship and praise the Lord together. Think about all of your loved ones who passed before you and take joy in knowing that you will see them again. This is only possible because of Jesus. To be able to fellowship with believers you have known in this life as well as new believers you will meet in Heaven is a true gift.

Give God praise for all of His goodness, kindness, and love. There would be no promise of Heaven if God didn't love mankind. However, God does love you and sent His Son to die for your sins. Praise the Lord that His love is unreachable, immeasurable, and inescapable (Romans 8:37-39).

6. Learning More Things About God

“However, as it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived’—the things God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

When you are in Heaven, your knowledge of God will continue to increase. You cannot fully know on this side of Heaven what God will teach you and show you. There will be marvelous and wonderful things in Heaven, and you will learn about them all. Any questions you have on this present earth will be answered. It will be an amazing day when you will stand before God and begin to learn even more wonderful things about Him.

There are many misconceptions surrounding Heaven due to false beliefs over the course of history as well as the overarching idea that we will all play harps on clouds. The good news is that Heaven is a wonderful place and a place where we will never run out of things to do. The Lord will fill us with all the joy, love, and peace for all eternity as we are serving, worshiping, and praising Him. Heaven is our eternal home and it is home of lasting joy.
