John Dye joined Touched by an Angel in its second season as Andrew, the Angel of Death, and soon became a regular alongside Roma Downey and Della Reese.
Even though his title sounded scary, Andrew was shown as a comforting presence. He usually appeared when people were near death, helping them face their last moments with peace and reassurance.
Before joining the show, Dye acted in projects like Tour of Duty, Campus Man, and The Perfect Weapon. But Touched by an Angel became his most famous role.
After the show ended in 2003, Dye mostly left acting. He appeared in just a few more projects, including the 2007 movie Fist of the Warrior.
Dye passed away unexpectedly at his home in San Francisco on January 10, 2011. He was only 47 years old.
