Basketball superstar LeBron James grew up in a deeply religious home and has
carried his Christian faith into adulthood. He credits his mother
with instilling a strong faith in him and recognizes God's role in
his success in basketball and in life.
James does not often talk about his faith, but he uses the platform
basketball gives him to help people, as the Bible teaches. Helping
marginalized children is especially important to him. In his hometown
of Akron, OH, for example, he founded a school where students who
graduate with a 3.0 grade point average or higher receive free
tuition at the University of Akron.
He has also donated nearly $2 million to the Boys & Girls Club
and is a major contributor to the ONExONE foundation, which provides
essentials to children in the U.S. and abroad.
