Lindsey Vonn: Alpine Ski Racing
Lindsey Vonn is one of the world's greatest skiers and the most successful American ski racer in history. She won a gold medal in women's downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics, a first for American women, and won her 20th World Cup crystal globe title in 2016, setting the overall record for men and women.
The St. Paul, MN, native began skiing at age three and was racing internationally at age seven. She is one of only six women to win World Cup races in all five alpine skiing disciplines: downhill, giant slalom, slalom, super-G and super combined. By the time she retired from World Cup competition in 2019, she had won 84 races.
Vonn is spiritual but not necessarily religious. She isn't publicly affiliated with any particular denomination, but says she prays for the world and focuses on prayer for health and happiness.
