Cherish your loved ones. You never know when God will call them home.
If you’ve ever experienced the loss of a loved one, the pain can be almost unbearable. For people who don’t know the goodness of the love of Jesus Christ, the pain can become too much to handle. But for the people who know the goodness of life through Jesus Christ, they know that saying goodbye to their loved ones on earth doesn’t mean they’re saying goodbye forever. They have the peace and comfort of knowing that they will see their loved ones again.
We all have the peace of mind knowing that were saved by Jesus blood and sacrifice on the cross. We can all bring that peace to other people who may need that comfort when they lose a loved one. But you may question what do I say when I see someone suffering from the grief of losing someone they love, especially if I don’t know if they are Christians or not? If you’re unsure if they’re Christians you can always turn to God in prayer and ask Him to guide your words when and if you talk to them and offer your condolences. God will guide you in what you need to say and how to comfort them.
Sometimes it doesn’t always mean talking to them about God right away either. you can just tell them that you’re there for them if they ever need anything and ask them if they would like you to cook a meal for them. After a bit of time you can talk to them about the promise God offers through salvation through Jesus Christ. Maybe it will open up their minds to more curiosity and conversation.
Some Bible verses that can bring comfort after the loss of someone you love include:
Revelations 14:13 which says, “13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” Anyone who knows the Lord will not die in vain. They will go to His kingdom for eternal sleep.
1 Thessalonians 13: 4 says, “13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” This verse says we don’t even have to grieve like the people who don’t believe in God. We have a hope that surpasses all human understanding. God doesn’t want us to be uninformed about death and what it truly means for us, who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
John 11:25-26 says, “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” This is one of the best verses. To know that He is the resurrection and the life, everyone can come to Him and be saved.
Revelation 21:4 says, 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
The love that you have for your loved ones can never be replaced or replicated. God gave you them in your life for a reason.
Losing a loved one is never easy. But by the grace of God, things do get easier. The pain may never fully go away completely, and you will always miss them, but you can dwell on the happy memories you have made with them over the years, along with knowing the joy and the promise that God gives us through His beautiful resurrection and life. You can have full confidence that you will see your loved ones again. There is no fear in death if you have the power and the love of Christ within you. You have the joy, hope and the promise of the resurrection that reminds you that you will see your family member or members again. Feel that joy that this world is not where you and your family members belong, that your true home is in Heaven.
The love of the Father towards us was so great that He chose to send His son to die for us, so that we all may live for Him, and with Him. He wants us to live for Him in our actions, words and thoughts on this earthly life. He wants us to come to Him so that we may taste and see the true gift that His salvation gives to all of us who ask and receive it with all our hearts. It will be and is hard to lose anyone you love, but rest in the promise that you will see them again. Cling to Jesus with all that you have, to see them again. In Christ, there truly are no goodbyes and there is no end.
