MY FIRST SPEECH AS GOVERNOR OF OHIO

I stand before you today humbled and honored that you have elected me to lead you as governor. I promise you that I will fulfill my duties the best of my ability. I will honor my oath to uphold and defend the state and federal constitutions.

My first duty, however, is to our Creator. I know that He will hold me accountable for how I govern. Now that I now preside over the executive office of the state of Ohio, He will hold me responsible for executing the laws of this state and protecting the God-given rights of all Ohioans through the administration of justice. That obligation weighs heavy on me right now for your state government has, for several decades, failed to do its duty. We have not protected the God-given rights of all Ohioans as God commands. The quickest way forward for Ohio is to go back to where we made a wrong turn, and make it right. We must do what the Bible says and “repent” – that is, to turn from our wrongdoing and begin to do right.

Let me be specific in my indictment. We must repent for obeying the federal government at the expense of our allegiance to God. We must repent for letting the federal government forbid the public proclamation of our faith in Jesus Christ in our courthouses and public institutions. We must repent for letting the federal government subject the church to federal jurisdiction, contrary to the laws of God and the state and federal constitutions. We must repent for letting the federal government and godless educators dictate that Ohio’s children will be subject to godless education, from their safe sex programs that promote sodomy and fornication, to their indoctrination in atheism in the name of science. We have grieved the Lord with what we have done to our children in the name of education, in the name of choice, and in the name of law.

Ohio must repent for shedding of innocent blood in our land. We deserve judgment for what we have done, but God graciously gives us an opportunity to quench the wrath of God that we deserve and win His mercy. Allow me to give a brief Scriptural introduction to this concept. In Exodus 20, the Ten Commandments insists, “Do no murder.” In the very next chapter, the state is given the obligation to enforce this commandment through the administration of justice. Romans 13 says that your leaders are God’s ministers to wield the sword of justice to punish evildoers and to protect the innocent. Numbers 35 says that a curse of innocent blood rests upon us if we do not execute murderers. Deuteronomy 21 says that the wrath of God for the shedding of innocent blood falls upon the community nearest the crime.

Ohio cannot blame the federal government for our failure to protect the God-given rights of all Ohioans; the federal government has no right to usurp divine law and constitutional law and legalize the killing of the innocent within our borders. Criminal justice in Ohio is firmly within the biblical and constitutional jurisdiction of Ohio’s leaders, and the federal government is constitutionally limited to specifically-enumerated powers. Thus, Ohio is responsible to protect Ohioans through the enforcement of criminal statues in Ohio, and if we must resist federal tyrants in order to do justice, then God obligates us to resist the federal tyrants to do justice. He alone is Lord and to Him alone do we owe unconditional allegiance.

Today, your state leaders repent for allowing innocent children to be slaughtered in Ohio’s abortion clinics, hospitals, and physicians’ office, and we intend to prosecute, convict, and execute as soon as possible. That’s right – life in prison is an insufficient penalty to abate the wrath of God for the shedding of innocent blood. God’s Word provides one remedy for quenching bloodguilt, and it is a speedy execution. We will not make King Josiah’s mistake and ban the child-killing without doing justice for past crimes; that only postponed Israel’s devastating judgment. Rather, we will begin today to prosecute those who have killed babies in the past, as well as all accomplices; only this will secure God’s blessing and freedom for our posterity.

Ohio also repents for a system of justice that has capitulated to the godless policies of the socialists in defiance to the Word of God. We have miserably failed to efficiently protect the God-given rights of the innocent. The taxpayers foot the bill to keep those that assault, rape, and burglarize them warm in winter, cool in summer, to educate them, medicate them, and provide them free legal counsel and entertainment, while the innocent who have been assaulted, raped, and burglarized live in fear of their assailants breaking out of prison, or being released for good behavior or due to overcrowding. Our prisons are bursting at the seams with repeat offenders, and our high crime rates persist. Ohio’s Correctional Institutions consume a huge percentage of our state budget, profiting a huge bureaucracy at the expense of the taxpaying victims. We turn today from this failed godless system to the inexpensive and effective system found within the word of God.

Capital criminals will be executed quickly and publicly, with the caveats God’s Word provides to secure against false convictions. Restitution, public flogging, and “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” punishments will replace our failed system. We can rely on the promises of God’s Word in Deuteronomy 13:11 and other passages that if we will obey God and do justice as He instructs, crime and injustice are coming to an end in Ohio. Those ambulance-chasers and bureaucrats profiting off of the unjust system may now enter the private sector.

Today, Ohio’s leaders repent for forsaking our lawful sovereignty over constitutional matters and groveling at the feeding trough of the federal government’s treasury instead of trusting the Lord. We will not let the funds of the federal government, obtained through an unlawful form of coercive taxation, manipulate us into submitting to their unlawful mandates and godless judicial decisions. We dethrone the federal government from its unlawful place and we submit to the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Today, Ohio’s leaders repent for misusing the funds obtained through state taxation to pay for things not specifically justified in our state constitution. We will no longer spend your money for charitable causes to which you would not give willingly if you had the free choice. The Bible says that all the fruit of your labor is God’s gift to you, and we will no longer plunder your wealth to enrich ourselves and our campaign donors. We will no longer raid the state treasury to fund projects in our district to secure our reelections. We bind ourselves down to the law, and will leave the free people of Ohio to care for the poor, to provide education for their children, to promote the arts, and to do all of the other good and important things that the state government has done unlawfully in the past.

Ohio’s leaders commit today to call the police and Guard forces into action to defend Ohioans from federal tyranny. If any agent of the federal government attempts to deprive an Ohioan of their right to life, liberty and property, through attempting to enforce unlawful judicial decisions on abortion, unlawful hate speech statutes, environmental statutes, tax laws that fund abortion or unconstitutional wars, or any other federal rule or law that violates the limitations of power established in God’s law and in the federal and state constitutions, those agents will face arrest and prosecution. Your state leaders intend to lay down their own lives if necessary in order to protect the God-given rights of all Ohioans in our jurisdiction as God and the Ohio Constitution demands.

We also intend to help other states repent and restore their lawful, constitutional sovereignty. The states are the masters of the federal government; the federal government is not the master of the states. The states are the parents of the federal government – we created this morbidly obese, lawless child, and we must restrain it with the chains of divine law and constitutional law, with God’s help.

I call all Ohioans to prayer and fasting that we will not fail to obey God fully in all things in this transition from godless government to Christian government. Certainly, the Lord will test our faith, but if we are faithful in wilderness, I am confident that the Lord will lead us safely into the promised land of liberty, peace, and justice for all.

I ask you now to bow your heads and your knees, and cry out to the Lord with me in prayer. “Dear Father, we repent for turning from you and serving idols. We repent for the injustice and the shedding of innocent blood that we have committed in this land. We repent for our theft and plunder of our neighbor’s wealth. Have mercy on Ohio. Help us do justice, and build a government on your shoulders instead of erecting it on the quicksands of humanism. Help the states around us turn back to God and join us in resisting tyranny and returning to Your law. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.”
