Zadok has a translation of today’s Vatican Press Office Bulletin announcement about yesterday’s meeting.

In all of this, let’s not forget the letter to the Catholics of China, which rumor has said will be released this Saturday. I was thinking last night how immensely appropriate the timing of such a release would be, coming right after the Pope decrees a "Year of St. Paul." Wouldn’t it? Get off your duffs – the world still waits for the Good News.

In other news, the Diocese of Superior has a new bishop:

Il Santo Padre Benedetto XVI ha accettato la rinuncia al governo pastorale della diocesi di Superior (U.S.A.), presentata da S.E. Mons. Raphael M. Fliss, in conformità al can. 401 § 1 del Codice di Diritto Canonico.

Il Papa ha nominato Vescovo di Superior (U.S.A.) il Rev.do Sacerdote Peter F. Christensen, del clero dell’arcidiocesi di Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Parroco della Parrocchia "The Nativity of Our Lord" in Saint Paul.

Bishop Fliss will be 77 in October. New Bishop-to-be Peter Christensen is a priest in diocese of St. Paul – who as rector, was very involved in the growth of St. John Vianney Seminary there. A brief bio at his parish site, written when he was appointed pastor there, gives some information.
