“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson and his wife, Catherine, are ending their marriage after 20 years together.
In a joint Instagram post, the 43-year-old actor, who has spoken openly about his Christian faith, and wife Catherine announced they have “decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way” after 20 years together.
“After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way,” the couple wrote. “We grew up together. We built a life and a family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the center of our world.”

Ritchson and Catherine first met as teenagers in Florida and dated in high school before splitting up. They later reconnected in college and married in May 2006. They share three sons, Calem, Edan and Amory.
While neither has publicly revealed what led to the end of their marriage, they made clear that their children remain their priority.
“The best gift we can give one another — and our boys — right now is friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be,” they said. “We also want to give each other room to grow into the people we are becoming.”
According to TMZ, Ritchson initially filed for divorce in December 2025. The couple reportedly reconciled in March before ultimately announcing their separation in September.
The news comes a little more than a year after Ritchson celebrated Catherine in a heartfelt Mother’s Day and 19th wedding anniversary tribute, describing his marriage and family as the “greatest privilege and success of my life.”
“@catritchson you are wisdom personified,” he wrote at the time. “Strength incarnate. A tantalizing percolation of joy, adventure and love.”
Ritchson is best known for playing Jack Reacher in Amazon Prime Video’s hit series “Reacher,” a role he landed in 2022 after appearing in projects including “Smallville,” “Blue Mountain State,” “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and “Titans.”
Away from the screen, Ritchson has frequently discussed his Christian faith and how it influences his life. In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said his faith comes down to following Christ’s command to love and serve others.
“I’m a Christian quite simply because of what Jesus calls us to do,” he said. “Love other people to death. It doesn’t mean we’re all to be hung on a cross, but how can I suffer for you? That is a beautiful thing.”
Ritchson has also spoken about finding a deeper relationship with God during a difficult period in his life, saying he eventually found “meaning and purpose” through “serving others and having a real relationship with God.”
Now, as their family enters a new chapter, Ritchson and Catherine are asking for privacy, particularly for their sons.
“Change is hard enough without the whole world weighing in,” they wrote. “We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion.”
