Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have officially tied the knot after nearly a decade together.

The Portuguese soccer superstar, 41, and Rodríguez, 32, married Tuesday, Aug. 11, in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, a coastal town near Lisbon, Portugal.

Ronaldo’s public relations team described the wedding as a “private and intimate moment” attended by the couple’s five children.

After the ceremony, Ronaldo and Rodríguez shared a simple photo on Instagram showing their hands and new wedding bands. Ronaldo captioned the image simply, “C❤️G.”

The wedding came exactly one year after Rodríguez announced their engagement on Aug. 11, 2025. She shared a photo of her hand resting over Ronaldo’s, showing off a large oval-shaped diamond engagement ring.

“Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives,” Rodríguez wrote in Spanish.

The marriage marks a new chapter in a relationship that began nearly a decade ago. Ronaldo first met Rodríguez while she was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in Madrid. The couple made their public debut at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich in January 2017 and became Instagram official several months later.

Ronaldo has said he never expected their relationship to become what it did.

“I didn’t think at the beginning that [the relationship] would be this strong, that I would fall in love with her,” Ronaldo said in Rodríguez’s Netflix reality series, I Am Georgina. “I didn’t expect it, honestly. But after a while, I felt that she was the woman of my life.”

Over the years, the couple has built a family together. Their five children include Ronaldo’s 16-year-old son Cristiano Jr., 9-year-old twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 8-year-old daughter Alana and 4-year-old daughter Bella.

The family also endured heartbreak in April 2022 when Ronaldo and Rodríguez announced that Bella’s twin brother, Ángel, had died during childbirth. In announcing the loss, the couple said the birth of Bella gave them “the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”

Rodríguez later joked that Ronaldo took his time making their relationship official.

Speaking with Elle Spain in December 2025, she said his proposal caught her completely by surprise.

“The truth is, when he proposed, it was the last thing on my mind,” Rodríguez said. She was so stunned by the diamond, she said, that she waited until the following day to look at it in the sunlight.

Calling the ring “gorgeous,” she joked, “It’s the least he could offer me after 10 years of waiting.”

The marriage comes during another milestone year for Ronaldo, one of the most recognizable athletes in the world. The five-time world player of the year recently represented Portugal in his record-tying sixth World Cup.

But this week, the celebration was about something away from the soccer field. Nearly 10 years after their relationship began, Ronaldo has married the woman he once described simply as “the woman of my life.”
