“Full House” star Dave Coulier has a lot to celebrate these days, and his wife Melissa made sure the world knew it.
On Instagram, Melissa shared a heartfelt birthday tribute to her husband of 11 years. “This year’s turn feels like the luckiest rotation yet!” she wrote. “You’re still here, the brightest light defying the dark. Forever grateful. Love you more than anything DB @dcoulier!” She added an invitation for fans to join her in celebrating: “Help me wish this man a very happy birthday. ?”

Coulier, 66, is in remission from Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a diagnosis he first revealed in November 2024. The beloved actor, comedian, and former host of America’s Funniest People admitted he was stunned when he first heard the news.
“The first thing I said to them was, ‘Wait a minute — cancer?’” he shared on Today. “I was feeling like I got punched in the stomach because it never happens to you. You always hear about it happening to someone else.”
His first symptom appeared after what seemed like a common cold. “The lymph nodes in my groin swelled up immediately. I thought, ‘Wow, I’m either really sick, or my body’s really reacting to something,’” he explained.
Throughout his cancer journey, Coulier leaned on close friends, especially his longtime “Full House” co-star John Stamos. Stamos gave fans encouraging updates along the way, sharing, “I go see him. He’s doing great. We have a couple shows we’re doing together… it’s just fun to spend time with him, and he’s doing great.”
Stamos admitted that after the painful loss of their friend Bob Saget, the thought of losing Coulier was too much to bear. “Dave and I talk a lot,” he told Us Weekly. “We lost Bob, and I couldn’t bear losing Dave, so I’ve been with him a lot during this cancer journey of his.”
Their bond even became a source of controversy when Stamos wore a bald cap to cheer up his friend during treatment. While some criticized the gesture, Coulier defended him: “It’s our friendship (me and John) and this is how we are handling a very tough time. I’m a comedian and humor is what drives me. John knows how to cheer me up and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap — being a true loving friend and brother.”
By March 2025, Coulier received the life-changing news that he was cancer-free. “One of the few times in my life when ‘zero’ has been a great number to hear,” he told Parade.
That same day, he became a grandfather. His son Luc and wife Alex welcomed their baby boy, Chance Lee, on March 27. “I got the good news the day the baby was born,” Coulier shared on the How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast. “So I heard the news and I was so excited, and then Luc called us and he said, ‘Hey, the baby just was born.’ And so, I mean, it was an amazing day.”
Now, with his health restored and a new grandson to love, Coulier is embracing life with joy. As Melissa’s touching tribute reminded everyone, his story is one of gratitude, friendship, and hope. “You’re still here, the brightest light defying the dark,” she wrote — words that speak not only to their marriage, but also to God’s gift of another day.
