Duck Dynasty is back with Duck Dynasty: Revival and the marriage of its two stars, Willie and Korie Robertson is back on display. The couple have been together for 40 years, married for 33 of them, meaning they have a lot of wisdom to share about the ups and downs of their relationship. “I’ve always said … Try to give more than you take. Especially in marriage … trying not to take, you know? … I got to… give more than I’m putting in. And there’s times where you’re obviously going to need to take… but that’s kind of a mindset I’ve always had.” Willie told Fox News Digital.
Korie shared that a successful marriage requires intentionality and work. “We work hard on our relationship. We turn back in. I think there are times in 33 years of marriage and whatever marriage, you’re going to start drifting apart if you’re not careful… we always are just really careful to turn back to one another,” she said. Of course, the couple also pointed to their faith as a major factor in keeping them together. “Our faith has been a huge part of that, in our commitment to God. It fuels our commitment to one another. When the going gets tough … stay in there. Commit to one another and your family. It’s so worth it,” said Corrie.
Revival shows the pair at a different point in their lives, as they are the proud grandparents of eight grandkids and Willie embracing the “fully semi-retired” life. The show also comes at time when the family has lost their head patriarch, Phil Robertson, who passed away the same week the new show premiered. Korie shared about what Phil’s legacy meant for their family. “Just in passing down that legacy — one of the things that we’ve just been reminded of over and over again is just this man who lived down on the river, didn’t own a cell phone or a computer — what God did with his life. Because he was just truly passionately sold out for Jesus,” she said.
Speaking to The New York Post, the pair shared about the changes that have occurred since the nearly nine-year hiatus between the old show and the new. “We really grew up together,” said Korie. “We are best friends, we work together on the show, and in life and Duck Commander, and all the things we do. So, I think respect for one another is really important, and to respect each other’s differences.” She also discussed what gets them through “hard times.” “Sometimes you can wake up and you realize, ‘We’re going in different directions.’ But noticing that and being intentional about coming back together every single time has been what’s been important for us.”
