Hollywood stars Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones had a big reason to smile this week. Their daughter, 22-year-old Carys Douglas, just graduated from Brown University — and her proud parents were right there to cheer her on!
In a sweet photo shared on Instagram, the couple is seen kissing Carys on both cheeks as she beams in a white dress. Zeta-Jones captioned the moment: “The night before graduation!!!! We are both such proud parents right now!! It’s only just begun!!”
The graduation festivities took place at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island — a prestigious Ivy League school. Carys earned a degree in Film and International Relations. She’s the youngest child of the famous couple, who have been married since 2000.
Zeta-Jones, 55, posted even more glimpses into the celebration on her Instagram Stories, including a decorated cake that read “Congratulations Graduation Class of 25,” and photos of Carys with her classmates. In one heartwarming shot, Carys is seen hugging her mom tightly.

Carys’ big moment follows in the footsteps of her older brother, Dylan, who also graduated from Brown back in 2022 with a degree in political science. Their dad, Michael Douglas, 80, couldn’t be more proud.
“These kids are extraordinary beings,” he shared in a recent interview with The Telegraph. “They’ve been a joy to raise.”
Douglas, best known for his roles in “Wall Street” and “Fatal Attraction,” has been open about how being a dad later in life has changed his perspective. “My career was the most important thing in my life, followed by marriage and children. And it’s completely reversed now,” he told AARP The Magazine. “I never anticipated starting a family and the joy of raising kids at my age.”
He also shared a humorous moment from one of his visits to Brown University. During one parent’s day, someone mistook him for Carys’ grandfather. “This is not grandfather’s day, this is parents’ day. I say, ‘I am a parent,’” Douglas recalled. “That was a rough one.”
Despite the occasional awkward moment, Douglas says he’s in a good place. “Catherine and I have been together — it’ll be 25 years this year,” he said. “It’s been a good ride… I’m really backing off and smelling the roses a little more, traveling more.”
As for Zeta-Jones, she couldn’t hide her joy watching her daughter take this next step. “We are both such proud parents,” she wrote again in celebration. “It’s only just begun!”
In the end, it wasn’t just a graduation. It was a celebration of family, love, and the start of a brand-new chapter — one that Carys is clearly ready to embrace with the support of her proud mom and dad.
