Many of the people who come to our food giveaways feel like they are the only one in that situation.  They tend to believe that Christians have wonderful, stress free lives and don’t have the same difficulties as the rest of the world.  We have all kinds of volunteers for each give away and our regular food pantry.  We have quite a mix of people.  We have pastors, pastor’s wives, and Sunday School teachers.

This last big food giveaway we had one volunteer who has terminal cancer.  One lady who just lost her mother.  One man who has recently had both hip and knee replacements.  We have some helpers who need a food package themselves.  We have people from all walks of life.  We have a nurse, a postal worker, a truck driver, several retirees,  a secretary , a mechanic, and several teens and home schooled children who use this as a service project. Our common desire is to minister the love of Jesus through practical means.

In November we did big Thanksgiving packages with a turkey and all the trimmings besides the regular items.  We served 136 families and 490 individuals.  We are open from 11:00am to 1:00pm.  Some people we waiting in the parking lot at 4:30am.  They come rain or shine, hot or cold.  Yet, some people still believe there is no need for such programs. The look on their faces as we fill their bags, tells me a different story.
