Safe Place with Ruth Graham

I am all fired up!  Congressman Akin makes me mad. The very idea that when a woman is raped and her body shuts down so that she doesn’t conceive is ludicrous. The Congressman said he had consulted doctors…I’d like to know which ones. There is no scientific evidence for such a stupid claim. He clearly does not know…

The title of this blog space is “A Safe Place with Ruth Graham”. I chose that title intentionally. I want people to feel safe with me. I am just a pilgrim on this unpredicatable path called life. And I know there are fellow pilgrims who struggle as I do. Devotion doesn’t come easily to me.…

I am posting a reprint of Cal Thomas’ commentrary for the The Washington Examiner. While it is not my writing it is somehting to think about. When women complain about men who can’t commit, they can thank — or blame — two people: Playboy magazine publisher Hugh Hefner and the former editor of Cosmopolitan…

Many of you have heard in the news that my father is in the hospital. He was admitted Saturday night – actually Sunday morning early – for a bronchial infection. It isn’t life threatening but at 93 any issue is treated seriously. He is on antibiotics and is resting well. My sister and her husband…

The word “tolerant” is used a lot these days. We are supposed to be tolerant of a wide range of things and if we aren’t were are deemed “racist” or some other ugly label. Well, I’VE HAD IT! We are in a mess in this country because we have tolerated too much. We have tolerated…

Have you ever asked yourself, “Why did I do that?” These days with ubiquitous video cameras there is a good chance your behavior was captured digitally. Have you ever watched America’s Funniest Home Videos? Some of them are really funny and cute but some just reveal the stupidity of people. You may have done something silly like eating that…

I was out of the country when the shootings in Colorado took place but I tried to follow the news as best I could. My heart aches for those who lost their loved ones that terrible night. The coming days, weeks, months, years will have an overlay of grief as the families try to adjust…

Recently there are those that think when a child’s team plays a sport they all get a trophy so no one will feel left out. They are all treated the same, those that played hard and those who sat on the bench. That takes away incentive to be better, try harder, to be the winner.…

We were informed this week that the uniforms that our wonderful athletes will wear to the Olympic games in London were made in China. There was an outcry in this country – as well there should be. Majority leader of the House of Representatives, Harry Reid, went on the air decrying this and suggested the…

The book, Fifty Shades of Gray, and the sequels are best sellers. I will state up front that I haven’t read them. I have read the reviews and watched Ellen DeGeneres’ spoof  on reading it for the audio version. From what I have read, it is a poorly written book. The subject matter is pornography.…

Ruth Graham
about

Ruth Graham

“Transparent” is the word most people use to describe Ruth Graham.

No stranger to heartache, she seeks to provide a Biblical perspective to her journey of faith. She is warm and talks openly about her own need for a safe place as she journeyed through her husband’s infidelities, her subsequent depression, her divorces, her teenage daughter’s two unplanned pregnancies, another daughter’s bulimia, her son’s battle with drugs, grandson's special needs and returning to school at age 40.

Although born into the "famous" Graham family Ruth did not feel she had a safe place to unburden the secrets of her life. She felt she had to project and image and wear a mask that she "had it all together". She had to meet others' expectations of her. It was not until a mid-life crisis did that she fully discover the unconditional love and grace of God. Her life's passion is to connect people to that same grace and love she found, no matter who they are or what sin.

Ruth is an experienced conference speaker and Bible teacher. She has appeared on a variety of radio and television shows including: Good Morning, America, The Hour of Power, Focus on the Family, Moody Broadcasting, Fox & Friends, CBN, Life Today and CNN. She has worked in publishing for over 14 years and is the founder of the Ruth Graham & Friends Ministry.

Ruth has three grown children and nine grandchildren. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Her life Bible verse is John 1:16.
