“But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” Mark 11:25

Forgiveness is a key that will open any door in your life. While it isn’t easy, it is easier than wallowing in the pain of unforgiveness. Neither is it isn’t optional. If we want to be forgiven by God, we must take this step. You and I are not exceptions to this rule. When God says anyone, He means anyone…

Are you facing closed doors, dead ends, and seasons of dry famine, spiritually, relationally, or any way? Do a forgiveness audit. Is there anyone in the world that you would not be able to embrace if they walked through the door today? Let it go! God will help you. Take the courageous step to forgive your oppressors, tormentors, enemies, relatives, co-workers, employers, employees, schoolmates, x’es, spouse, children, ancestors, pastors, teachers, leaders, professors, housekeepers, parents, shopkeepers… you get the idea. As hard as it is (it just doesn’t feel just), do it anyway, and watch the freedom and joy that’s been missing make a come-back in your heart and soul.

Father,

You’ve told me to forgive. I can’t do this without your help. I’m trusting you to help me as I take this step today. Lord, I forgive every person that has hurt, harmed, bruised, pained, persecuted, traumatized, ruined, wronged, wounded, and distressed me. I release them to you and I release myself from the burden and responsibility of their sin. I’m Yours. And I come to You with no chains of unforgiveness binding me to any person living or dead. I set them free, and in so doing I set myself free. I speak the words Jesus spoke with His dying breath, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” Thank you for setting me free and for forgiving me and hearing my prayers.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
