I know for sure that the great majority of us spend a good deal of time wondering, speculating, considering and even worrying about what other people think of us.

AND …

… Sometimes we use this preoccupation to over-indulge, to stuff ourselves silly.  As a result, we veer off the Road to Sveltesville – big time with a heavy thud.

People say (and maybe you do too?):

If I don’t eat all the food that my friend slapped onto my plate at dinner, she’ll be insulted and annoyed (at me).

If I don’t stock the house with the cookies, cakes and chips, my husband will be upset with me and my children will be scarred for life.

If I change my eating habits, people will suspect that I am on a diet, which means they’ll know that I know that I ‘need to’ lose weight, and I will be filled with shame and embarrassment.

Well, like I said, you are using your preoccupation with what other people think to sabotage your healthy living plans.  And even worse … you are wasting your mental energy and mental space worrying about ‘this.’  (I want to say ‘crap,’ but maybe that’s too crass.)

Chew On This:  There might be something more important, more meaningful to wonder about, consider, and think about than what other people think about you in general, and specifically your food choices.

1.  You could de-clutter your physical environment.  Like clear off those piles of papers on your dining room table, pay your bills, and then take in a deep cleansing breath of clear and clean air.

2.  Maybe play with your kids or your grandkids, or call them if they’re all grown up and out of the house.

3.  Read a book.  Heck, even write a book!

4.  Learn a new instrument.  (Smiling here!  As you may know, I’m 4 days into learning the Ukulele and wow, am I bad … as in good?)

5.  Make love.  If you’re a solo-act, try reading “Sex for One” by Betty Dodson.  Whether solo or a duet, order a rose-quartz “Love Wand.”

Bottom line:

Stressing about what other people think is – in plain English – an energy suck.

Judgment kills love. If they want to judge you and kill love, again – that’s their business.

You love you and use your precious and limited time and energy to create, to be ‘of value’ according to your values, according to your standards.

What do you think?
Are you ready to let go of other people’s opinions, judgments, thoughts about you?

Let this be your mantra:  “What other people think about me is their business.”

Live … Love … Create!
