Last time here, we were able to establish that the COVID-19 coronavirus, from both a medical and astrological standpoint, is not likely to be the gigantic Grim Reaper’s Steamroller after all. At least, it won’t be on par with history’s greatest pandemics, at all.

(I know there are a few people out there using astrology to terrify people into thinking that COVID-19 is going to be some kind of apocalypse. Such fear-mongering should be rejected by astrologers and everyone interested in astrology, in the same way that a decent Christian should reject someone who uses the Bible to shame and scare people. People who use astrology for that purpose are mostly just weak and frightened people trying to make themselves feel powerful by frightening other people more. And while we’re at it? Drop the nonsense about COVID-19 coronavirus being some kind of “escaped Chinese bioweapon.” Go back and read what I said about the mortality rate of COVID-19 coronavirus. Bioweapon? More like “weapon of mild annoyance.” Here endeth the lesson.)

Having said that: it’s pretty obvious that something major is going on. The stock market doesn’t crash and an entire province in Italy doesn’t shut down for just no reason. So what’s the astrology behind that, then?

We don’t know when exactly the first human caught this coronavirus, but we do know that it would have likely been under the influence of the recent Saturn conjunct Pluto. The first reported case was in December. The previous time this conjunction happened was in late 1982. What was going on back then?

Essentially, that’s when the whole concept of “Reaganomics” started taking off. It became popular in America (and then elsewhere) to cut taxes, cut regulations, increase international trade, and generally let the free market have more freedom than it had previously.

And overall, you’ve got to admit that some good has come from it. Sure, the average person’s buying power has remained flat or gone down since then. Yes, there are fewer social services available to help those in need than there were back then. And okay, maybe we’ve finally beaten up Mother Nature more than she can stand. But hey, everyone’s got a cell phone and their 500 channels on TV, so there was some good come of it all, right?

Yes. That was sarcasm. My point here is that I believe that the last Saturn-Pluto conjunction set off that whole long process that has significantly altered the world’s economy. I also believe that the most recent Saturn-Pluto conjunction marks the beginning of a correction or an alteration to that trend.

I believe that the Saturn-Pluto conjunction means that we need to readdress our relationship with wealth and materialism, and what we’re willing to sacrifice to make a buck, to make sure our neighbour don’t starve, and to find a way to survive without being able to buy a bale of tubes socks for $1.99 made by cheap Chinese labor.

So as far as coronavirus being a disaster? No, I don’t think so. It was simply the unforeseen trigger that will make us re-evaluate many of the things we have come to enjoy over the last 40 years. And maybe that’s a good thing. Life without change is not life at all.

In the meantime? Keep washing your hands. And stop hoarding toilet paper!
