matthew-currie-astrology-mars sign weaponIn Part One of this series I described the general effects that each Mars Sign can have in a birth chart. if your Mars is in Aries through Virgo and you didn’t see it, don’t get mad or get even. Just click here and read it.

Libra: Balisong

Pros: An elegant, balanced knife that folds neatly into its own two-piece handle. In the hands of a skilled user, it comes with a bonus deterrent: it can be flipped around in a very showy yet highly intimidating way. This, hopefully, one may be able to avoid stabbing someone with it.

Cons: The balisong is illegal in many countries, largely because of the aforementioned martial arts style flicking. Specifically: too many people without proper supervision tried to copy what they had seen in the movies, and ended up hacking up their own hands and arms.

Scorpio: Walther PPK

Pros:Probably the most iconic semi-automatic pistol of the 20th century. Reliable German engineering and excellent stopping power. Besides, it was James Bond’s gun of choice, so that gives it bonus points for coolness. It was the standard handgun for people providing security to Britain’s royal family, until…

Cons: The Walther PPK’s reputation took a serious hit in 1974 when a burglar armed with two pistols broke into the home of Princess Anne and attempted to kidnap her. The Walther PPK belonging to the man guarding her unfortunately jammed, and was then withdrawn from service. So, just as with Mars in Scorpio itself, it’s always that one time that things go wrong that gets all the attention.

Sagittarius: Longbow

Pros: For as simple a concept as the bow and arrow, it took a surprisingly long time for European militaries to figure out that the longer the bow, the further you could shoot the arrow. The longbow made England Europe’s dominant military power in the 14th and 15th century, most notably in the Battle of Agincourt, where the English were heavily outnumbered by the French.

Cons: … And then people started bringing cannons into battle. And then they brought muskets and flintlocks. So much for the bow and arrow!

Capricorn: .38 Special

Pros: If the Walther PPK is the iconic semi-automatic pistol, the .38 Special is the classic revolver. Light, accurate, very low-maintenance, and little recoil are all qualities that made this the standard issue police firearm for much of the 20th century.

Cons: A proliferation of harder-hitting firearms on the street led to the general perception that the .38 Special was obsolete. Who cares about how light and quick to draw your gun is when the other guy can unload a clip on you in five seconds?

Aquarius: Taser

Pros: Designed as a non-lethal alternative to firearms, the taser is one of those rare weapons that may have saved more lives than it has taken. It fires two darts on wires which can jolt assailants into ceasing their attack without the same hazards of shooting them with a gun.

Cons: Did I say ‘non-lethal”? Make that “only a little lethal.” using a Taser on someone can trigger a heart attack, even if that person is normally healthy. And to be honest, if someone is attacking you, their pulse was probably pretty elevated to start with. Thus, you could end up killing someone for, essentially, just being a little too rowdy.

Pisces: Napalm

Pros: Napalm is a sticky jelly mixed with gasoline or diesel fuel. This can make it ideal for clearing out a city block or a section of jungle all in one shot. That, and the fuel involved burns even longer then it would on its own. It’s also more cost efficient than most aircraft-deployed bombs.

Cons: Once released, napalm splatters all over the place and sticks to everything and anything. And everyone. Even by modern warfare standards, napalm is pretty damned horrifying.
