Before Donald Trump became president of the United States, he was a successful real estate developer in New York City and the media mogul behind the hit reality show The Apprentice.
During that time, a woman known only as “Debbie” was struggling with insurmountable grief. She lost both of her parents (the cause isn’t shared) and contemplated suicide. Debbie was so determined that life wasn’t worth living without her mother and father that she walked toward the Brooklyn Bridge and planned on jumping into the East River.
Until she ran into the host of “The Apprentice,” Donald Trump.
Newsmax’s Rob Schmitt covered her story, which she has kept a secret for the past seven years. She said that Trump saw her crying and asked if he could pray with her. Debbie says that Trump “sensed” what she was planning and encouraged her not to go through with it.
“He was at a friend’s birthday party. When he saw me coming past, I was hysterical in tears, and he gently grabbed my arm. He was like, ‘Whoa, wait a minute, are you OK?’” Debbie said. “He said, ‘I don’t know what you’re going to do right now, but whatever it is, forget about it, take it out of your head. Your mom and dad wouldn’t want that,’”
She continued to share that Trump stood by her side and talked to her until she forgot about going to the Brooklyn Bridge. Following the prayer, he handed her $100 to get back home. That bill is now hanging in a frame in Debbie’s home.
Interestingly, this is not the first time a claim like this has been about the current president.
In 2023, Bill Robinson wrote an opinion piece for Newsmax that stated, “This is the true story of how President Trump saved my life.” The piece was an acknowledgment of gratitude for Trump’s 2019 executive order, “Advancing American Kidney Health.”
During the 2020 RNC, a cancer survivor named Natalie Harp took the stage and credited Trump for saving her life because he fought for “right-to-try experimental treatments.”
The most interesting claim to this effect is from TV host and celebrity Kathie Lee Gifford. This past February, she was promoting her new book on the Sage Steele Show when she spoke about an incident in 1994 that changed her life.
Gifford, 71, recalled a time when a dangerous stalker was potentially trying to murder her and her baby daughter Cassidy. The FBI was involved and shared the horrific details for her safety. During her days with “Live with Regis and Kelly,” she, her husband (the late NFL Hall-of-Famer Frank Gifford) and Trump became good friends.
Trump owns several hotels, specifically Trump Plaza and Casino in Atlantic City, which the two frequented. Gifford’s husband calls Trump to discuss what is going on.
“And this is why I will love this man for my whole life,” she said of Trump as she teared up. “He said, ‘Frank, don’t you worry about it. I’ve got your girls. I’ve got your girls. And don’t you worry.’
While the President has never been vocal about these claims, several people have shared Debbie’s sentiments.
