The process of hilarious comedy should go like this: a witty line, followed by another witty line, then another, and then another where you are cracking up with laughter at its peak.

Then, there must be a come down or we would burst and a short momentary break in the comedy, when the film straightens its tone.

Then another very witty line which makes you crack up, followed by another line, which makes you almost fall off the seat.

That’s how a hilarious comedy scene should work.

Of course, comedy tastes vary, so what makes you laugh, won’t necessary make me laugh, and vice versa.

What a kind of laughter when comedy does work.

Laughing with comedy is like a peak of human experience. The moment of laughter is a most uncontrollable response that’s pleasurable and hits us right in the middle, where we feel, and hurt.

Then, it releases tension and relaxes the muscles.

The hurt seems less, and we feel so much better.

Laughing releases painful emotions.

It’s also about laughing at things that stimulate us and trigger our senses of humor. It’s as simple as that.

What works for you, may not work for me.

I’ve had those moments when I’m cracking up at the movies, but those moments, when they are genuine, are few. I guess you just have to catch the moment when it comes or be in the mood.

I’m not really a comedy aficionado, though, who can laugh easily at the movies. I’m more likely to be amused, have a giggle here or there, and admire some cleverness, though not crack up at it. I do admire sly one-liners.

Those times I have laughed out loud uncontrollably have been soulfully good.  It was outrageous laughter at outrageous things.
