Coming off of Father’s Day weekend seems to be a perfect time to focus on creating a stronger bond with dad.  Think of how the role of “father” in familes has changed over the years.

The medical community talks a lot about how men and women are “wired differently”.  Traditionally, men have been raised to keep their feelings inside…so getting dad or grandpa to open up and share beliefs may take some patience.

It’s worth the effort, though…the benefits of building and maintaining a strong relationship with the men who help to shape your life are huge. Taking in their way of thinking now will give you a guiding voice for you and your children.

Here are some questions that will help to get you talking:

1.  What did you want to be when you grew up?

2.  How did you decide when it was worth taking a risk?

3.  How would you describe your relationship with God?

4.  What is the biggest mistake you made in your life, and what can you say to me so that I don’t make the same one?

5.  Why is education important?

6.  Why is marriage important?

7.  What are you most proud of teaching me?

Maximize your minutes with dad and grandpa! Remember to record or journal the answers to these questions to keep as a treasure for yourself and your family.
