When Courtney Potts suddenly got a flat tire on a rural Tennessee road, she did not expect Luke Bryan to be the one to help her change it. When Potts’ tire blew and she pulled over, she saw another driver pull off in front of her to help her out. The other driver turned out to be none other than country music star Luke Bryan. “I got out and did a double take and as soon as I heard his voice,” she told Taste of Country. “I didn’t even have time to be in shock because he’s like, ‘Look, we really need to get you out of this road because I almost hit you.'” Potts’ car was stopped near a dangerous curve in the road, making it important they make the change quickly. She said Bryan went into “dad mode” while helping her replace her tire, saying he even went and grabbed his own tools out of his truck to help with the quick repair. “And it was more of a dad moment. He was seriously worried about me and fixing the tire on this car,” said Potts.

Bryan was planning to spend the day hunting with his sons Tate and Bo, but knew that he needed to stop and help Potts first. He thought that it would be a good experience for his boys to learn how to change a tire, but Bryan opted to keep his boys in the car given the dangerous road they were on. Potts said that she was a fan of Bryan before this day, saying she has even see him in concert before.

The country star has had his fair share of devastating family losses, which has inspired him to speak out on the importance of paying it forward and being an inspiration to all. “If I can inspire people to move on from tragedy, hopefully by my behavior,” Bryan told Today. “That’s what life’s all about for me.” In 1996, Bryan lost his brother Chris in a car accident. In 2007, Bryan sadly lost his sister Kelly, who passed away from natural causes. Just seven years later, Bryan lost his brother-in-law, Kelly’s husband, from a heart attack. The singer and his wife, Caroline, decided to adopt their three children, Til, Jordan and Kris, and raise them as their own. Bryan believes that his family is looking down on him, saying “Maybe Chris and Kelly and Lee have moved some puzzle pieces around to make my life so fortunate. When I say my prayers at night, I have to say, ‘Thank y’all for looking after us down here.'”
