Nicki Minaj is once again speaking openly about her Christian faith, telling her millions of followers she has made up her mind and “won’t turn back” because she wants to “see my Jesus someday.”
The rapper shared the declaration in a post on X, borrowing from the traditional gospel song “I’ve Got My Mind Made Up,” widely known through Donnie McClurkin’s “Caribbean Medley.”
“I’ve got my mind made up, and I won’t turn back because I want to see my Jesus someday,” Minaj wrote. The post has since drawn more than 5 million views.
Hours later, Minaj followed with another faith-centered message, sharing passages from Psalm 36 in both the King James Version and New International Version. The Psalm contrasts the darkness of human sin with the steadfast love and faithfulness of God.
“This is what the Lord is saying today,” Minaj wrote. “I’d normally only post the KJV, but I think you’ll understand why the NIV may cut through a little more to newer believers. The Lord richly bless you.”
The public expressions of faith came just before Minaj received a new high-profile role. On August 31, the U.S. Small Business Administration announced that she will join entrepreneurs Grant Cardone and Joe Gebbia as judges for the finale of its Million Dollar Pitch Competition, with actor Dean Cain serving as host.
The September 18 event in Washington, D.C., will feature five small-business finalists competing for portions of a $1 million prize pool funded by Clover Network Inc. The competition is part of the SBA’s Freedom 250 initiative, which marks 250 years of American free enterprise.
Minaj celebrated the appointment on X, calling it a “major, MAJOR KEY” and expressing excitement about taking part in the Trump administration’s small-business initiative.
But her latest references to Jesus are part of a broader public return to the faith she says has been a part of her life since childhood.
Minaj previously said she was baptized at 13 and learned to pray as a young child from her grandmother in Trinidad. During an appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest last December, she acknowledged that the demands and influences of the entertainment industry had sometimes left her feeling distant from God.
“Sometimes, I would wake up and feel so far removed from … fellowship,” she said, recalling a time when she attended church three days a week. “But then sometimes you can be in an industry as well that pulls you away even more.”
More recently, she said reconnecting with God has felt like unexpectedly encountering a close friend after years apart.
“Lately I’ve been feeling like … if you haven’t seen a long-lost best friend for a long time, and then you bump into them again, that’s how it’s been feeling for me,” Minaj explained, describing a renewed commitment to prayer and talking with God.
She then described what she believes God was saying to her: “Where were you? Where’ve you been? I’ve been waiting on you!”
Now, with a simple gospel refrain reaching millions of people, Minaj is making that renewed faith increasingly public: “I’ve got my mind made up, and I won’t turn back.”
