Country star Tyler Hubbard says The Chosen has become more than just a television show for his family, helping his children better understand the Bible and sparking meaningful conversations about Jesus.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the 39-year-old former Florida Georgia Line singer opened up about his family’s tradition of watching the hit biblical drama together and how the series has helped bring Scripture to life for his children.

“It’s really opened up our kids’ eyes to the gospel and to Jesus and how he lived,” Hubbard said.

The singer, who shares three children with his wife, Hayley, said watching the series has led to “a lot of conversations about Jesus and about all the different stories of his life.” More importantly, he said those lessons appear to stay with his children long after an episode ends.

“We talk through all these stories, we talk through all their questions, but then it doesn’t go in one ear and out the other,” Hubbard explained. “It really kind of sticks.”

Sometimes, he said, the family will return to a Bible story years later and discover that his children already remember it from The Chosen.

“They’re kind of teaching us or teaching their friends at that point,” he said.

Hubbard credited the show’s production and storytelling with helping younger viewers connect with Scripture. The family can watch a story unfold on screen, he said, and then turn to the Bible to explore it further.

That personal connection made Hubbard especially excited when he was allowed to write a song associated with the series.

The project also brought him back to his own musical roots. Long before finding country music stardom as one-half of Florida Georgia Line, Hubbard said he got his start in music by “leading worship in church.”

“Getting to write a faith-based song, a song that has some meat on the bone,” and “some heart and some truth behind it was really cool,” he said.

What began as an opportunity to submit a song to The Chosen team eventually became something much bigger.

“So we had a great day and ended up that The Chosen team really liked the song, and it turned into something special and something I’m proud of and excited to be a part of,” Hubbard said.

The resulting track, “All I Need Is You,” was released Aug. 7 as the first single from a forthcoming album inspired by The Chosen. The song is also set to appear on the soundtrack for the show’s upcoming sixth season. The yet-to-be-named album, a collaboration between 5&2 Studios and Capitol Christian Music Group, is expected this fall.

For Hubbard, however, his connection to The Chosen began at home. Before contributing music to the series, he was a father watching alongside his children as the stories of scripture became more tangible to them.
