Chip and Joanna Gaines are bringing family and design together once again—this time with help from their 19-year-old daughter, Ella. The couple’s new series, Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House, premieres December 9 on Magnolia Network, and it marks the first time the Gaineses have taken their renovation talents beyond their home base of Waco, Texas.

In the show’s trailer, breathtaking views of snow-covered mountains and evergreens set the scene for this next adventure. “We are not in Waco anymore, are we?” Chip jokes, as the couple prepares to tackle their first out-of-state project. Joanna adds, “This is our first out of Central Texas project. I want it to feel like something I put together for my family.”

That family includes their five children: Drake, 20, Ella, 19, Duke, 17, Emmie, 15, and Crew, 7. But this time, it’s Ella who’s stepping into the spotlight. Joanna reveals in the trailer that Chip had a bold idea: “Chip had an idea to let our daughter design the little cottage.” In true Gaines fashion, Ella embraces the opportunity, smiling as she declares, “I’m accepting the challenge.”

This isn’t the first time the proud parents have trusted their daughter’s creative instincts. Earlier this year, Joanna shared that she completely stepped back while Ella decorated her college dorm room. “She is very into design and she has her own, unique style,” Joanna said during an appearance on Today. “So I stepped back and I was like, ‘You show me what…’ and I let her do the whole thing.”

Ella’s natural flair for design doesn’t come as a surprise. Back in 2019, Joanna told PEOPLE, “Ella is like me. I think she’ll follow in my footsteps and have her hand in a lot of things.” That prediction seems to be coming true. Last summer, Ella even interned with the Magnolia team while her parents took time to refocus. Joanna recalled the experience as one of her proudest moments as both a mom and a business owner. “One of my favorite moments that was so pivotal for me as a mother, but also as a business owner, was my daughter, my oldest daughter, was in on a lot of these conversations… She was listening and she was interested,” Joanna said on the Business of Home podcast.

Now, Ella’s creativity is taking center stage on national television. Fans will get to see how her personal style complements her mom’s signature aesthetic—mixing warmth, simplicity, and family-centered design in a cozy mountain setting. For the Gaines family, Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House isn’t just another renovation; it’s a full-circle moment that celebrates creativity, legacy, and the next generation of Magnolia magic.
