Cristiano Ronaldo has finally put a ring on it.

The Portuguese soccer star, 40, and his longtime girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez, are officially engaged after eight years together. The happy news was shared by Rodriguez on Instagram, where she posted a stunning photo of her oval-shaped diamond engagement ring.

“Yes I do. In this and in all my lives,” Rodriguez, 31, wrote in Spanish, giving fans the long-awaited confirmation.

The couple first appeared publicly together at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich back in January 2017. A few months later, they made their relationship “Instagram official” in May of that same year. Since then, Ronaldo and Rodriguez have built a life together as one of the most famous couples in the world.

They are parents to a big, blended family with five children: 8-year-old twins Eva Maria and Mateo, daughters Alana, 7, and Bella, 3, as well as Ronaldo’s eldest son Cristiano Jr., 15, from a previous relationship.

Their journey hasn’t been without heartbreak. In April 2022, the couple shared the devastating news that Bella’s newborn twin brother, Ángel, had passed away. At the time, they leaned on each other and their faith to carry them through the grief.

Fans of the couple may remember that wedding talk had been in the air for some time. In her Netflix docuseries, I Am Georgina, Rodriguez admitted her friends had been teasing her about when Ronaldo would propose.

“They’re always joking about the wedding, ‘When is the wedding?’” she said in a March 2025 episode. “Since Jennifer Lopez’s song ‘The Ring Or When’ came out, they started singing it to me. And well, this is not up to me.”

Ronaldo, for his part, explained that he always wanted the timing to feel right. “I always tell her, when we get that click,” he said, snapping his fingers. “Like everything with our life, and I know she knows what I’m talking about. It could be in a year, or it could be in six months or it could be in a month. I’m 1,000 percent sure that it’ll happen.”

Now, that moment has finally arrived.

This engagement also comes more than three years after Ronaldo faced serious accusations in court. In 2017, Kathryn Mayorga, a former teacher, alleged that he raped her at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009. The allegations made global headlines.

However, in 2022, U.S. District Judge Jennifer Dorsey dismissed the case with prejudice. The ruling came after it was revealed that Mayorga’s attorney, Leslie Mark Stovall, had used “purloined” confidential documents. As a result, the case was closed, and Stovall was ordered to pay a portion of Ronaldo’s legal costs.

Now, with the past behind them, Ronaldo and Rodriguez are looking forward to a future filled with love, family, and a wedding celebration that fans all over the world will surely be watching closely.

Their story is a reminder that while life may bring both triumphs and trials, commitment and love can carry people through.

As Rodriguez beautifully wrote in her announcement, “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
