Fans of The Chosen have received their first look at the series’ highly anticipated sixth season, and the emotional teaser makes one thing clear: the story is about to enter its most heartbreaking—and most hope-filled—chapter.

Released during a livestream hosted by creator and executive producer Dallas Jenkins, the first official Season 6 teaser offers a moving glimpse into Jesus’ final hours before His crucifixion. The trailer opens with a close-up of Jesus, portrayed by Jonathan Roumie, His face bloodied beneath a crown of thorns as His mother, Mary, gently cradles His face and tearfully whispers, “My boy, my heart.”

From there, the teaser unfolds with scenes of deep sorrow and sacrifice. Judas watches in silence after betraying Jesus to the authorities. The disciples and Mary Magdalene grieve as Christ is brutally flogged. The trailer culminates with Jesus praying from the cross, “Father, forgive them,” capturing the love and mercy that define the Gospel even in humanity’s darkest moment.

Alongside the teaser, Prime Video and 5&2 Studios announced that Season 6 will premiere on November 15, with the first three episodes released simultaneously. The remaining episodes will debut weekly through December 6. In a unique move, the season’s conclusion will not stream immediately but instead arrive as a theatrical feature film on March 12, 2027, bringing the climactic events surrounding the crucifixion to the big screen.

According to the official synopsis, the new season follows “the most consequential day in human history,” telling the story of Jesus’ final day through the eyes of both His followers and those who sought His death.

“The hour has come. Before the sun sets, Jesus of Nazareth will be dead,” the synopsis declares. “Pharisees call it justice. Romans call it peace. Followers call it murder.” Yet despite the betrayal, injustice, and suffering surrounding Him, Jesus remains steadfast in His mission to go willingly to the cross.

Jenkins has previously said that Season 6 centers on Christ’s complete surrender to the Father’s will.

“Season 6 is the living out of what Jesus said: ‘Not my will, but yours,'” Jenkins explained. He noted that although Jesus expressed the natural human desire to avoid suffering, He willingly embraced the cross out of love and obedience—a truth that continues to challenge and encourage believers today.

The creative team also realized that the final 24 hours before the crucifixion carried such weight that they deserved more than a traditional television ending. That decision ultimately led to the theatrical finale planned for next spring.

Fans also learned that a new companion album inspired by The Chosen will debut this fall. The first single, “All I Need Is You,” from country star Tyler Hubbard, will be released August 7. Hubbard, who says his family watches The Chosen together each night, described the song as a heartfelt expression of humanity’s need for Jesus.

As The Chosen approaches its final chapters, the series continues to make history. Earlier this year, it earned a Guinness World Record as the most translated season of a streaming series. Through the nonprofit Come and See, producers are working to translate and dub the show into 600 languages to make the story of Jesus accessible to approximately 95% of the world’s population.
