After nearly two decades together, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban—one of Hollywood’s most admired power couples—have separated. Multiple outlets have confirmed the split, which comes after 19 years of marriage and two daughters together.

The news first broke through TMZ, with insiders revealing that the Oscar-winning actress and the country music star have been “living apart since the beginning of summer.” Kidman, 58, and Urban, 57, share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

A source close to the family told Page Six, “Sometimes relationships just run their course.” The insider added that Kidman “did not want the separation and was trying to save things,” but Urban had reportedly moved out of their Nashville home and purchased another property nearby.

The couple’s busy careers may have been part of the strain. Urban is currently on his High and Alive tour across the U.S. and Canada, while Kidman has been filming overseas. A source told the Daily Mail, “Keith never sees Nicole, either she is filming or he is on tour. There was a lot of love between the two and they might not divorce, but there is a world that they both live where neither of them are in it.”

Another insider added that Kidman was “blindsided” by Urban’s unhappiness. “The intimacy isn’t there, they are just going through the motions,” the source said. “If this separation gets them back together, that would be amazing, but Keith had to call her out that he isn’t happy.”

Meanwhile, Kidman has reportedly been caring for their daughters. “[Kidman is] holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone,” a source told Page Six.

Even before the separation was revealed, there were signs of big changes ahead. Over the summer, Kidman had applied for residency in Portugal. Urban’s name was not included on the form, sparking speculation. At the time, a source explained, “Keith was unable to be in Portugal for this appointment as he is currently on tour in the U.S., and it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present in order to apply for the visa. He is scheduled to submit his application at a later date that works with his tour schedule.”

Adding to the speculation, the Daily Mail reported that Kidman had been staying at a stately London home while filming the sequel to Practical Magic. The mansion—once owned by Boy George—was reportedly costing the actress over $87,000 a month. Sources suggested she was “getting comfortable” in the new home.

Kidman and Urban tied the knot in June 2006 after meeting at the G’Day USA gala in January 2005. Through the years, they often spoke openly about their commitment to raising their children in Nashville, away from Hollywood’s spotlight. “My roots are deeply embedded here,” Kidman told People in 2019. “Our house is always full of kids. Sometimes we have eight kids over for dinner after school. I’m so grateful.”

As Kidman and Urban navigate this season of change, many are praying that they find healing, strength, and wisdom for the days ahead—especially as they continue to co-parent their daughters.
