The fan-favorite Netflix original series Bridgerton has dropped season two, and it promises to be just as addictive as the first season.

The series is based on the Bridgerton books by Julia Quinn and follows the love lives of the Bridgerton siblings: Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth. Bridgerton is produced by none other than Shonda Rhimes, who is known for creating Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy.

Similar to the books, each season of Bridgerton will follow one of the siblings and their love interests. Season one followed Daphne Bridgerton and her love interest, the Duke of Hastings. Fans quickly fell in love with the dynamic duo for how they played the roles with their heart. The pair used a fake dating ruse that beautifully backfired with them falling in love with each other. Fans were pleased to see the couple eventually wed and start a family together after overcoming many obstacles.

Fan Favorite Character Will Not Appear

As magical as their chemistry was, fans will be disappointed with season two as the Duke of Hastings will not be making an appearance. The character, played by Regé-Jean Page, was never supposed to be in the following seasons. Although the show is produced by Rhimes and given her track record of killing off fan-favorite characters, you can rest assured knowing the Duke is alive and well. Daphne Bridgerton will make appearances and references to her husband, but fans will not be graced with his presence.

New Bridgerton Drama

Netflix dropped the season two trailer, so we already know this season will focus on one of the Bridgerton boys, Anthony Bridgerton. He is the eldest of the Bridgerton siblings and best friend of the Duke of Hastings. Viewers can expect the drama and tea to be piping hot this season as a new character has seemed to have caught the attention of Anthony on the heels of his mother announcing he is in search of a wife.

Lady Whistledown’s Secret Identity Is Out

In season one, Lady Whistledown’s identity was kept under wraps until the ending. She is the writer of the juiciest gossip column in town. She revels in the town’s secrets, and viewers learn she was none other than Penelope Featherington, the best friend of Eloise Bridgerton. While viewers learned who Lady Whistledown we are curious to see if anyone else will learn her identity, especially with the Queen pushing to find out.

The Featheringtons Stay Centered

The Featheringtons family dynamic is fantastic; they are a perfect blend of quirky and heartwarming characters that find themselves centered in gossip. In season one, they hosted Miss Marena Thompson in their home to help her find a husband, only to find out she was already pregnant by her true love, who died in battle.

The family was struck by tragedy when the patriarch Lord Featherington’s gambling problems caught up, and bookkeepers murdered him. Since the family fortune has been squandered, the family quickly finds themselves in financial distress, leaving viewers wondering if they will bounce back in season two.

Fans should expect the family to stay rooted as a gossip point with explosive moments likely to happen as Penelope/Lady Whistledown’s identity should cause shock throughout the town.

As usual with all Netflix series, the entire season drops at once, so you can binge the day away. Viewers will be happy to know that Bridgerton has already gotten renewed for a third and fourth season, so buckle up because we know Rhimes likes to take her audiences on emotional roller coasters.
