In a new interview, the “Clueless” actress turned political commentator apologized for previous comments and the persona that made her so controversial, expressing that God “has forgiven” her for these statements.

The former actor, who was hired by Fox News in 2014, became a big voice on the network, recognized for her support for former President Donald Trump. In an interview with Daily Mail, she said that she lived her life “being angry,” which greatly impacted her political views.

“I was the angry, conservative, black woman,” Dash told the Daily Mail. “And, at that time in my life, it was who I was. I realized that in 2016 that anger is unsustainable, and it will destroy you. I made a lot of mistakes because of that anger.”

Dash also told the Daily Mail that there are several things that she is sorry for, specifically comments she made that she now believes she should not have made.

“They were very arrogant and prideful and angry,” Dash expressed. “And that’s who Stacey was, but that’s not who Stacey is now. Stacey’s someone who has compassion, empathy. God has forgiven me. How dare I not forgive someone else. I don’t want to be judged, so how dare I judge anyone else. So if anyone has ever felt that way about me – like I’ve judged – that I apologize for, because that’s not who I am.”

The Capitol riot was a big turning point for Dash who ran for Congress in 2018. She said supporting Trump put her “in some kind of box that I don’t belong in.” She also described the riot as “appalling and stupid.”

“When that I happened, I was like, ‘OK, I’m done. I’m truly done,” Dash said. “Because senseless violence of any kind I denounce. What happened on Jan. 6 was just appalling and stupid.”

Dash said she is “not a victim” and recognized her position when she worked for Fox.

“Working for Fox at the time, that was my job. I did my job from the place I was at,” Dash said.

Today, she says she would never work for Fox News or any news outlet again.

Dash currently has no plan to return to the political arena; however, she isn’t staying away from controversial issues altogether. She is starring in the new, pro-life movie “Roe v. Wade,” which recounts the true story of the landmark 1973 U.S. Supreme Court case, a matter that’s very personal to her.
