Kate Gosselin must be shaking in her boots: People.com reports that Mackynzie Renée Duggar (see photos here), the first daughter of the oldest Duggar, Joshua, and his wife, Anna, arrived late last night.

That’s right, it’s the first grandchild of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the stars of, and progenitors of the 18 (soon-to-be 19) offspring starring in, TLC’s “18 Kids and Counting.” The blessed event not only means the airing of the first grandbaby special–“First Grandduggar” airs Tuesday, October 13, at 9:00 p.m. EST–but it could potentially lead to a spin-off series.

Although they deny any association, the Duggar family is often colored by the controversy surrounding the Quiverfull movement–an ultra-conservative Christian movement that denounces any form of birth control and enthrones the father as the supreme head of the household. And yet, people can’t get enough of the Duggars and their tips and tricks for maintaining such a large family, and a relationship, at the same time.

This spells out bad news for Jon & Kate: Charismatic, yet relatable, chip-off-the-old-block Joshua, sweet Anna, and their new baby girl are far more friendly family television than the squabbling twosome and their eight little pseudo-POWs.  Even though I argued recently that the public may, in fact, tire of the Duggar spectacle at some point, TLC would be silly not to make room on its schedule for an entire Duggar night, replete with special crossover episodes.

But, don’t expect the show to be exactly like “18 Kids and Counting.” Josh and Anna have already set themselves apart from Jim Bob and Michelle by not committing to give all of their children names that begin with the letter “M.”

“First Grandduggar” airs Tuesday, October 13, at 9:00 p.m. ET on TLC.
