I was 8 when this Good Times episode ran. Not sure if I saw it then, although the program was a family staple back in the days when we only got three network channels and PBS. It wasn’t until I started watching reruns on YouTube recently that I realized how edgy this show really was at a time just a few years after the death of Dr. Martin Luther King. For those of you too young to remember, it followed the lives of a working poor black family living in “the projects.” What does this bit of 1970s culture have to say to us today?
(Note: I’m not sure about the “falsely called Jesus” message at the top of the video, but couldn’t find a clean version. Please disregard)
