I know it’s sooooo 80’s, but do you remember those exercise videos you used to workout in front of the TV with?  Jane Fonda? Richard Simmons? Dancercize?

Why not get them out, dust them off, and give them a spin again?  They can be lots of fun, and a bit nostalgic too, in a really pleasant way.

Better yet, there are lots of DVD’s available these days that are great.  I like yoga videos like Rodney Yee, or Shiva Rey, or Kripalu Gentle Yoga.  Gabrielle Roth’s The Wave is cool.  I have one too, 30 Days to Spiritual Well Being with simple yoga postures and praise dances and songs.  Pick one or a few that are going to be really fun, and at your level – don’t be too ambitious.

Along the same lines but verrrrry 21st century, is the Wii Fit.  Our oldest son was given one for Christmas.  I have to tell you, it’s awesome!  What fun to setup an avatar (a screen cartoon character you design) and then play the games on the Wii Fit balance board.  It also weighs you and tracks progress automatically.  There are a lot of fun games, like hoola-hoops, dance steps, step aerobics, simulated jogging, and many others.  They are scaled to custom match your personal level, and are actually big fun to do.  Our whole family is doing them together, and we love it.

The point is to get moving on a daily basis – whatever it takes to overcome inertia – and to keep it going.  So I recommend videos (dance, yoga, step, anything), or the Wii Fit, anything that is going to be a lot of fun for you, and will help you FEEL GOOD by being healthy.
