Not everyone may catch the resonance of “soul” and “sole” in their personal symbology, but the world was again speaking to me in sole language this morning.

Back home for a day between adventures in Colorado and California, I returned to work on my new book, which is all about healing through soul recovery. Walking my dogs in the rain, I came upon the pair of glittery emerald-and-gold high-heeled party shoes in the picture.

Today is trash collection day, and they had been discarded at the edge of the sidewalk. But the garbage men had come and gone, taking the other trash but leaving the shoes untouched. The brand, I noticed, is “Delicious”.  One up, one down, among leaves from the weeping lindens. There’s a story here, I can feel it.

But now I must return to other stories, of other souls, the ones that have been lost or discarded, and how they come home.
