I blame The Anchoress for this. She posted a string of great Paul Simon songs, which sent me scurrying to YouTube to find one of my all-time favorites. Here it is: a bittersweet elegy that comes from a different time, but that somehow still speaks to our own peculiar, troubled age.

The singing sensation returned to “Britain’s Got Talent” this weekend — and made it to the next round of the talent contest with her rendition of “Memory.” It’s a little rocky at the beginning, but she soon finds her footing and marches confidently to the soaring, inevitably rousing end (complete with halo lighting effect!)
