Sarah Palin, Meredith Vieira, Katie Couric and even Oprah Winfrey.

What a week it has been for women on television!

And it’s only Tuesday for crying out loud …

Palin visited the Today show in what had to be a bit of an awkward hour. After all, it was the “lamestream media” as she calls it, that helped lead to Palin’s downfall.

While Matt Lauer jabbed the ex-VP hopeful about “reading papers” to prepare for her appearance, Katie Couric, Palin’s real antagonist was herself appearing as a guest co-host on ABC’s Good Morning America.

Katie Couric

It’s arguably the best fit for Couric, rather than as an anchor in the dying world of the evening newscast.

Not that she’s one of my faves, anyway.

Vieira, who seems pretty nice, visited the Today show to take some of the oomph! away from Couric’s debut.

Meanwhile, Oprah admitted she may not have started her own, OWN, TV network if she realized how much work it would be.

What was she thinking?

She made that revelation on the CBS Morning Show, co-hosted by her best friend, Gayle King.

Like I said, quite a week for women in early morning TV. I almost could use a dose of Ryan Seacrest to level things out a bit.

That actually comes Wednesday, when he visits Today.
