How are you doing today? Have you taken time for yourself? Have you allowed yourself to be loved by the host of celestial beings surrounding you?

If you haven’t, why not take a long, slow deep breath right now and ask the universe to love you?  Just open your heart and allow the love that always surrounds you to fill your heart and your mind.

I remember when I first began to explore spirituality. One of my mentors told me to find some place I could feel my connection to my spirit and spend some time there every day. I was fortunate enough to live close to the beach, so every day I went down to the ocean’s edge, opened my heart and mind, and simply asked the universe to love me. The first time I allowed that love in, I was amazed. I felt totally safe and deeply moved by the experience.

I find that by giving, I get so much back. Who could you reach out to today? How could you be somebody’s angel? I used to have a bumper sticker that said: “Commit Random Acts of Kindness and Senseless Beauty.” Maybe put money in someone else’s parking meter or give the store clerk a sincere compliment.

Call a friend, help someone with their packages, or just smile broadly at a stranger and say “hello.” Volunteer some of your time, visit someone in a nursing home, or make a sandwich for a homeless person. There are so many things we can do.

Years ago, I noticed this paradox. I resisted it for years until I finally surrendered and accepted it. I can’t do my spiritual practices to get something.  If I meditate so I feel good it doesn’t work, but if I meditate to simply meditate, I do feel good.

Take a deep breath and say a little prayer. Ask to simply love, with an open heart and with no strings attached. You’ll be amazed at how good it feels to love openly and to be someone’s angel. Have a wonderful day, unless you have plans otherwise. Here is a wonderful photo gallery to give you inspiration on how to be someone’s angel.

With love and aloha,
Susan

And remember you really do have Angels on Your Shoulders!
