“Om Around the Dome” (to put a hex on Scott Walker) – and they call Christians crazy!

Gov. Scott Walker after winning primary victory 2010
January 3, 2011, Scott Walker was inaugurated as Wisconsin's 45th Governor. Since that day, he has proposed bold reforms that have eliminated the state's $3.6 billion budget deficit without raising taxes and gave school districts and local governments the tools to balance their budgets without the massive layoffs seen in other states. To date, these profound changes are saving Wisconsin taxpayers over $765 million and counting.

Now, you’re probably wondering what in the world “omming” means. Think of it as an elevated hum of sorts — one that is typically used for religious purposes. The word “Om” is defined as follows:

“a mantric word thought to be a complete expression of Brahman and interpreted as having three sounds representing Brahma or creation, Vishnu or preservation, and Siva or destruction, or as consisting of the same three sounds, representing waking, dreams, and deep sleep, along with the following silence, which is fulfillment.”

Here’s a video in which omming — an element of many meditations — is further explained (and demonstrated):

In the case of Wisconsin, a short video clip seems to show supporters of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett omming en masse outside of the state capitol. The event, dubbed ”Om Around the Dome,” was apparently conducted in support of efforts to push for Gov. Scott Walker’s loss in the recall race.

Video footage appears to show liberals circling the capitol building and omming in unison. Here’s a short clip of the purported ceremony that the Gateway Pundit dubbs as “creepy”:

A longer video on UStream provides some commentary and description of the omming event, which appears to have gone on for quite some time. A woman on the video can be heard asking someone to “hold hands in solidarity” and to join in the procession.

She also explains that the purpose of the omming is to highlight the fact that those circling the building want Walker out of office. Watch the extended video, below, in which progressives join hands and om until they encircle the entire building:

Another video that appears to be posted on the same evening showcases singing and festivities that occurred earlier in the night. “Which side are you on,” the protesters sing in unison (other clips are available here):

Judging from the polls, protesters have more omming to do if they wish to walk away from with recall with victory. Below, see the recent numbers that Real Clear Politics has assembled:

Clearly winning in the polls is Gov Scott Walker (R) over Anti-Free Market & Unionizer Advocate Barrett (D)
