Watchwoman on the Wall

Watchwoman: Don’t miss this video!!!!  I love animals.  Dogs top my list of the animals that I love the most.  We are called by God to be good stewards of all of His Creation and poochies is one of God’s better creations (mosquitoes and flies, not so much, tee hee).  This is the most wonderful story of loyalty and self-sacrifice, and you might want to get out your box of Kleenex to wipe away tears overflowing as you watch this amazing video!  Before anything, I want you to know, Lilly, the Pit Bull, has survived her act of heroism!  So it’s a great and wonderful story, not one of tragedy!  E N J O Y !!!  ▬  Donna Calvin

Hero pit bull pulls owner from train tracks in life-saving rescue

Massachusetts dog drags unconscious owner, escapes an oncoming train but gets seriously injured

Lilly the pit bull saved her owner, Christine Spain, of Shirley, Mass., after she fell unconscious in front of a moving train on May 3. The dog was seriously injured.

A pit bull that made a life-saving rescue by pulling her owner out of the path of an oncoming freight train now needs a helping hand herself.

Lilly, an 8-year-old pit bull, was with her owner when the woman fell unconscious on train tracks in Shirley, Mass., on May 3, according to ABC affiliate WCVB in Boston.

Lilly managed to drag her owner, Christine Spain, off the tracks just before the train rumbled through. The conductor was unable to stop the locomotive in time, and the wheels wound up slicing through the dog’s right foot, fracturing her pelvis and causing other internal injuries, reported.

Spain was uninjured.

“She saved my mom’s life,” her son, David Lanteigne, a Boston police officer, told WCVB.

He said he rescued Lilly from a shelter several years ago and gave her to his mother as a way to cope with her alcoholism. Spain had relapsed prior to the incident, and she was arrested at the scene on charges of obstruction and danger on a railroad track, reported Wednesday.

The dog is now recovering at an animal medical center, but her family needs help paying for treatments. The center is working to collect donations.

A vet told reporters he expects the dog to recover following a front-limb amputation.

“Lilly’s recovery from this horrific ordeal is my top priority right now and I’ll do everything possible to get her back home to us,” Lanteigne said to WCVB.
