Nebraska refuses pot-promoting vanity plate, ACLU sues

posted by Donna Calvin

Watchwoman: Here’s another reason to add to the long list of why we Bible-believing, bona fide Christian conservatives refer to the ACLU as the Anti-Christian Lawyers Union.  If it’s sinful, if God is against it, you can find the ACLU suing someone because they refuse to advance it.  The ACLU is more about promoting evil than promoting free speech.  When Christians are attacked by being refused free speech, you don’t see the ACLU come running yelling, “It’s a violation of the Christian’s free speech.”  The ACLU remains deadly silent if it is the Christian being denied free speech — and if you haven’t noticed, then you’re not paying attention or you’re deliberately in favor of sin and sinful behavior.  The ACLU is almost always (nearly 100%)  on Satan’s side, the side of sin and sinners.  ▬ Donna Calvin

OMAHA, Neb (Reuters) – The American Civil Liberties Union is suing Nebraska’s motor vehicle department for refusing to issue a personalized license plate that refers to an unofficial holiday known as National Pot Smoking Day.

An attorney who supports marijuana legalization had requested a plate reading “NE 420″, letters and numerals that refer to Nebraska and April 20, the date of the unofficial holiday.

Attorney Frank Shoemaker wants a license plate reading "NE420." The State of Nebraska won't let him have it. He's suing.

Frank Shoemaker, the attorney from Holbrook, Nebraska, who requested the plate, is the sponsor of a petition drive for a state ballot measure next year to legalize marijuana.

Beverly Neth, director of the DMV, refused to issue the plate and said the “420″ numerals were used to promote marijuana use, an illegal drug in the state.

She said the numbers were also a combination that could be associated with Adolf Hitler, who was born on April 20, 1889, and the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado, which took place on April 20, 1999.

Amy Miller, Nebraska ACLU legal director, said there was nothing obscene or offensive about Shoemaker’s proposed plate.

“It’s purely political speech relating to a current ballot initiative. ”

The 8th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has ruled that license plates are a legitimate place for personal and political expression, said Tracy Hightower-Henne, an ACLU volunteer cooperating attorney in Omaha.

DC,

Donna is right the ACLU is primarily focused on defending anti-Christian, anti-moral behavior, and anti-Ten Commandments actions. Beyond that they also defend the enemies of our liberties and freedoms.
Check out the history of the ACLU, they were founded by Communists with the sole purpose of destroying the USA.

I’ve nothing to apologize for. The ACLU is primarily focused on defending anti-Christian, anti-moral behavior, and anti-Ten Commandments actions. I have never known them to defend one pro-lifer. You, DC, owe me an apology for saying I bear false witness. When the ACLU shows up, more often than not, it is to defend what God has already said is sin. Apparently, you didn’t bother to read that I wrote (nearly 100%). I never said NEVER! Read more carefully and open your eyes and you won’t fall so quickly into making errors. Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
