A campaign is under way to allow non-religious chaplains to be appointed in the U.S. military. Groups representing atheists and humanists serving in the army say that non-believers should have a chaplain who can empathise with their views. Military chaplains help to, among other things, counsel troops and advise them on issues of faith.
