Yesterday I spent 71/2 hours waiting in a hospital waiting room while my husband had a knee replacement.  Patience may be a virtue, but it isn’t my area  of strength, unless it’s regarding children.

I am grateful that the surgery went well and now we begin his rehab.   But, that was one long, tiring day for me.  I think we get more tired just sitting than we do when we are active.  My bones were aching and my recliner calling as I finally walked out of the hospital.

Waiting on the Lord can just as tedious, especially when you think you have all the answers.  When God tells us to wait and be patient, He always has a good reason for it.  We cannot see the future, but God can.  He knows all the trials and temptations we will go through long before we get there.

When we get fresh direction from the Lord, it’s human nature to want to put ourselves in the fast mode to get it done.  Often God tells us to wait.  There are many reasons for this; spiritual immaturity,  emotional road blocks, or proper things aren’t set into place yet.  We often proceed with our plan, and ignore the still small voice in our hearts.  That is not a wise thing to do!

In Isaiah 55:9 God tells us, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.”  We can save ourselves a lot of frustration and failed ventures, if we really believe this.

We must learn to trust the Lord and not our natural thinking. (Proverbs 3:5-60  He only wants what is best for us.  We are often too close to a situation think rationally, but  God doesn’t get anxious or fearful concerning the future.

We live in a society that wants everything RIGHT NOW!  We have instant coffee, instant potatoes, instant access to information online, and instant communications on our cell phones.  We are not good at waiting.

As difficult as it can be, waiting on the Lord is always our best choice.  God’s timing is prefect, His knowledge unfailing, His mercy without end, and His love everlasting.  I assure you, we can trust Him.
